If your laundry still has a musty smell, this is why ⬇️

You can't use JUST baking soda on its own. It's a wonderful deodorizer, but it's not a surfactant. You need a surfactant, like those in detergents, to lift grime so they can be washed away. No amount of baking soda will properly lift oils, sweat, or food off of your laundry 🧺

Instead, pair a tablespoon or 2 of baking soda with your detergent on laundry day. In fact, some laundry detergents even come with baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) already for this reason! ✨️

True soap is made through "saponification," a process that turns oils and fats into soap 🧼

Detergent bars are often made with alternative cleansing agents shaped to look like soap

True soap is oil based, while detergent based bars have other surfactants like glucosides or sulfates.

🔎 Have you come across this ingredient? Not all scents are created equally, here's the difference between "fragrance oil" and "essential oil."

👀 Fragrance oils can be a combination of synthetic and naturally derived parts. They're usually listed as "fragrance" but sometimes you see "oil(s)" as part of the name. They're typically patent protected by the manufacturers, so full disclosure to consumers might not be possible!

🌱 Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that capture the aroma and beneficial compounds of the source. The plants are often processed through methods like steam distillation or cold pressing. When properly diluted, they make for a safe and pleasant experience!
