Maggie’s Healing Circle Updates, encouragement, gratitude, and community support for Maggie’s healing journey

05/29/2026

Today marks a huge milestone—Maggie completed her final round of chemotherapy. 💜

After 6 rounds of infusions, countless days of sickness, exhaustion, and challenges that most of us can only imagine, she has climbed an incredible mountain. Through it all, she has faced each step with strength, courage, and determination.

She’s in good spirits, grateful to have this chapter behind her, and looking forward to the next few weeks passing by. Before surgery, she plans to spend precious time with her kids this summer, making memories and enjoying the moments that matter most.

We are so proud of her and everything she has overcome. Please continue to keep Maggie in your thoughts and prayers as she moves forward on this journey.

Hello family and friends! An update on Maggie.

She has just finished her fourth round of chemotherapy, and we finally have some encouraging news to share. Her malignant tumor has responded to treatment and has shrunk—something we’ve all been hoping and praying for. While this is a huge step forward, her journey is far from over.

Maggie is now preparing for the next critical phase: surgery, which is expected to take place in late June or early July. As you can imagine, the physical, emotional, and financial toll of this fight has been overwhelming. Between ongoing treatments, upcoming surgery, recovery time, and everyday expenses, the burden continues to grow.
Maggie has shown incredible strength and resilience through every round of chemo, and she continues to face this challenge with courage. Now, we have an opportunity to stand beside her and help ease some of the stress she’s carrying.

If you’re able, please consider donating to support Maggie as she heads into surgery and recovery. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference. And if you’re not in a position to give, sharing this page and keeping Maggie in your thoughts means just as much.

Thank you for being part of Maggie’s support system during this difficult time. 💛

💛 Update: Thank you for standing with Maggie

We want to start by saying thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has donated, shared Maggie’s fundraiser, prayed for her, and supported her family in so many ways. Your kindness and generosity have meant more than words can express.

Maggie has now completed two chemotherapy sessions. The treatments have been very hard on her body, and she has been feeling sick most days. After the second treatment, the side effects have been even stronger, including constant nausea, fatigue, and body aches. A few weeks after the first chemotherapy session, Maggie also lost all of her hair, which was another emotional milestone in this journey.

Despite how difficult the treatments are, Maggie continues to push forward with incredible strength.

Another challenge Maggie is now facing is work. She has already used all of her vacation days and sick leave, and because her medical appointments are every few days, any additional time she needs to take off is now unpaid leave. This adds even more financial pressure during an already overwhelming time.

If you would like to help but cannot donate right now, sharing Maggie’s fundraiser on your social media can make a huge difference! (I included the link at the end of the post) The more people who see her story, the more support she can receive.

To help spread the word locally, I (Katya Tolkach) have printed flyers for Maggie’s fundraiser. If you own a business or know a place where a flyer could be displayed, please reach out to me. Every little bit of awareness helps.

Our community has already shown incredible love. A few weeks ago, our friend Ena (with Yoga Keys) hosted a beautiful fundraising yoga and sound healing class for Maggie. It was a very special event, and Ina is planning another class in this coming Saturday (march 28) to continue supporting Maggie’s healing journey. The event will be held in Oceanfront park , behind the City Hall, at 9 am.

At that event, Maggie’s friend Ashley Steeby Russel, an amazing photographer, will also be raffling a professional mini photo session (value $375) , with proceeds going toward Maggie’s treatment.

This journey is long, but the love surrounding Maggie continues to remind us that she is not walking it alone.

Many people have been asking how they can help Maggie right now. 💛
Her amazing friend Alicia Anderson Hrytzay set up a Meal Train so the community can support Maggie and her kids during chemotherapy.

If you’d like to drop off a meal, you can sign up here:

Thank you all for showing up with so much love.💕

This meal train is setup for Maggie and family to help them with dinner as Maggie is battling stage 3 breast cancer. She has treatments every 21 days and the days/weeks in between treatments are very tough for her. https://www.facebook.com/share/1ULN5opwov/?mibextid=wwXIfr

💛 A gentle note from Maggie’s Healing Circle

Thank you so much for the overwhelming love, visits, donations, messages, and support — it truly means more to Maggie than words can say.

Maggie wanted to share that her first chemotherapy session was a rough start, but it’s done — and as she says with her signature humor, “only 17 more to go.” 💪

Chemo side effects are very real right now, including migraines, nausea, bone aches, and very low immunity. Because of this, there are days when her body needs extra rest and protection from germs, which is the main reason we’re asking for a small adjustment.

To help Maggie heal and get through treatment safely, we kindly ask that:

• visits be coordinated in advance, and
• in-person visits be adult-only for now

Please know this comes from a place of care, not distance. Your texts, notes, prayers, donations, meals, and check-ins mean so much — even on days Maggie isn’t up for company.

Thank you for continuing to show up with so much love, understanding, and kindness. 💛

If you’d like to coordinate a visit, please send a private message to this page.

On Friday, Maggie had her very first chemo treatment up in Miami. 💗

We ran into a few issues with her port at the start, but once that was sorted out, the chemo itself went smoothly. It was a very long day — 9 hours at the hospital, plus the 2+ hour drive each way from Marathon. Thankfully, her future treatments will be shorter and done closer to home in Marathon.
She left treatment with a device that automatically administers medicine 27 hours later. This medication helps stimulate her bone marrow to produce more white blood cells, which is so important to keep her healthy during chemo. Unfortunately, when the timer dispenses the medicine, the injection is extremely painful. While it’s essential, it leaves her very tired and dealing with significant bone pain.

The past few days have been up and down — headaches, nausea, fatigue, and bone pain — but she’s still finding moments to get outside for some fresh air, sit on the patio, or take a short walk when she gets a little burst of energy. We’re taking it one hour and one day at a time.

We are so incredibly grateful for everyone who has stepped in to help these past few days — taking the kids, feeding them, bringing meals, sending texts to check in, and making sure we’re not walking this road alone. The balloons and flowers so many of you sent made her Valentine’s Day extra special and truly lifted her spirits. 💐🎈Also huge thanks to everyone that has donated to her gofundme. It has been such a blessing to relieve some of the financial burden.

Thank you for the love, prayers, and support. It means more than we can ever say. 💕
