Every Friday afternoon, the same headache. Right side. Behind the eye.
By the evening, she was lying in a dark room with a towel over her face.
Amal is 34. She works in an office. Her migraines came almost every week, like an appointment she never made.
Light hurt. Noise hurt. She could not eat. Saturday was gone — she just slept through it.
She had done everything right. She saw her doctor. She had a scan. The scan was clear. Her blood tests were normal. She was given painkillers, and they helped a little, but she was taking more and more of them. That worried her.
"Nothing is wrong with me," she said. "But I am not okay."
We talked for a full hour. Not just about the headache.
I asked about her week. She told me she works hard, she never complains, and she never lets anyone see when she is struggling.

The first month, she still had two migraines. I had told her to expect that. Change is usually slow, and slow change tends to last.
By the third month she had one headache — and it lifted the same afternoon. She did not lose the whole weekend.
But the thing she wanted to tell me about was something else.
