The pharmacy technician role has never been more important, and the updated PTCE reflects that.

With a renewed emphasis on medications, federal requirements, patient safety, order entry and processing, and reimbursement, the 2026 content outline reflects the real-world responsibilities technicians face in modern pharmacy practice.

This is a signal from the industry about where the profession is heading: toward technicians who are genuine partners in patient care, medication safety, and pharmacy operations.

For independent pharmacy owners, this matters. The techs joining your team in 2026 and beyond will have been trained and tested to a higher, more clinically relevant standard. That's good news for your patients and good for your pharmacy.

We put together a full guide to the changes on the RxPost blog. We dive into what's new, what's gone, and how to support any team members currently preparing.

A conversation is happening in state legislatures across the country, and it's going to reshape what pharmacy looks like.

Should pharmacists be allowed to diagnose and prescribe? The data, the training, and the geography all say they're ready. The laws just haven't caught up yet.

We broke down the full argument: the problem, the policy, what it means for pharmacy techs, and how to position yourself right now for where this profession is heading.

Nashville, here we come. 🎸

The RxPost team will be at RedSail Technologies , June 4–7, and we couldn't be more excited to be in a room full of independent pharmacy owners who care deeply about their patients and their businesses. That's exactly our kind of crowd.

Stop by Booth #208 for a photobooth + a chance to win some fun goodies and Starbucks gift cards. Let's talk about what's working in your pharmacy and how we can help.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Efficiency matters in an independent pharmacy. Every hour spent managing surplus inventory is an hour not spent on patient care.

We built RxPost with independent pharmacy owners in mind, and with simplicity as a non-negotiable. When the right tools are in place, the hard things get easier.

If you're ready to see what that looks like for your pharmacy, head to our website to get started: https://www.rx-post.com/

Pharmacists are often the first (and sometimes only) healthcare professional a patient feels comfortable talking to about their mental health.

Motivational interviewing is an approach grounded in listening, respect, and patient involvement rather than correction or persuasion. It has been shown to meaningfully improve patient engagement and health outcomes.

Patients' experiences, emotions, and perceptions play a significant role in health decisions. Meeting patients where they are, with curiosity instead of judgment and reflection instead of instruction, is one of the most clinically impactful things a pharmacist can do.

The takeaway for independent pharmacy teams this month: the clinical conversation and the human conversation are the same conversation. Mental Health Awareness Month is a good reminder of why that matters.

Allergy and Asthma Awareness Month is here, and for independent pharmacies, that means one of the busiest times of year is officially underway. 🤧

Patients are walking in overwhelmed by options, unsure what's worth trying, and often not realizing that the most qualified person to help them is standing right behind the counter. (It’s you).

From antihistamines to nasal corticosteroids to knowing when to refer, allergy season is an opportunity for independent pharmacies to deepen patient relationships and demonstrate the kind of expertise that chains simply can't match.

62% of pharmacy professionals report burnout. The highest rate of any healthcare profession. Higher than nurses, higher than physicians. And 42% say they're likely to leave their jobs within the next two years because of it.

This is not a personal failure. It's a systemic problem. And it's one the industry can no longer afford to ignore.

Burnout doesn't happen overnight, and it doesn't get fixed overnight either. But real, sustainable change starts with the basics:

✅ Adequate staffing, because one person cannot do the work of three
✅ Protected break times built into every shift, not just on paper
✅ Open, honest conversations about workload between staff and leadership
✅ Tools that actually streamline workflows and reduce administrative burden
✅ A culture where asking for help is normalized, not stigmatized

Technology is part of the solution. But it's one piece of a much larger equation. The real work is cultural, and it starts with pharmacy owners and leaders deciding that their team's well-being is non-negotiable.

The future of independent pharmacy depends on the people behind the counter. Let's make sure they're supported enough to stay. 💚

$135k in average annual savings, made possible by...

Faster shortage resolution: When a drug is hard to find, our network of 700+ independent pharmacies means you don't need to call wholesalers for hours. You find what you need quickly, from people who get it.

Less inventory waste: Dead inventory sitting on your shelf is cash you've already spent that isn't working for you. RxPost gives it somewhere to go.

Stronger cash flow: When you're buying smarter and moving surplus faster, the numbers at the end of the month look different (in a good way).

Independent pharmacies are running lean by necessity. They deserve tools that work as hard as they do.

If you want to see what $135k in savings could look like for your pharmacy, let's talk.

It’s , and we want to talk about a small business that rarely gets mentioned when holidays like this roll around: Your independent pharmacy.

When most people picture a small business, they think coffee shops, boutiques, and restaurants. And those businesses absolutely deserve to be celebrated. But independent pharmacies are small businesses too, ones that happen to also be a critical piece of their community's healthcare infrastructure.

We built RxPost as a small business to serve small businesses. Because we know this world. We came from it. And we believe independent pharmacies deserve tools, resources, and a community that actually has their back.
This week, we're celebrating every independent pharmacy owner grinding it out. You are the definition of small business. 🧡
