I am a Child and Adolescent, Adult and Forensic psychiatrist. I received my medical degree from Dayanand Medical College of Punjab University in India.

I chose psychiatry early in medical school because I was drawn to the humanity inherent in learning about a person’s life story to the depth we do as psychiatrists. Every patient history is unique with layers and meanderings and rich in meaning and import. I feel privileged to hear these stories and to help people puzzle their way back to emotional wellbeing and mental strength.

I very much enjoy creating in my free time: art, jewelry, food, stories and poems. It’s my favorite form of meditation. Every few years I start writing a book but have yet to finish one. I enjoy the process enough that I keep going back to it though. ()

Hello everybody,
My name is Arie () I am a 5th year medical student who is currently enrolled in the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. When I was 6 years old, I and my family escaped from the government in Iraq, which at that time was hunting down the Kurdish minority. That’s when for the first time in my life I saw people die. Years later I moved back the country, and I saw the catastrophic medical situation, as well as people who needlessly suffered because of this situation. During my trips to my homeland, I realized the full extent of the necessity to help people, not just in an emergency situation, but also beyond. This made me think about my own desire help such people, but I also realized that without a medical training and finally, degree I couldn’t do it. From then on, it has been my aim to learn more about medicine, and to find a way to become a doctor step by step. 5. Travelling and cooking. I have been so far in 40 countries and try always to combine work and travel.

Specialty:Gastroenterology
Training: Undergrad-UCLA
Medical school:Albany Medical College, Residency/fellowship: Cedars Sinai Medical Center

I chose this field because I love the balance between procedures and face-to-face patient care time. Everyday is different and I love the variety! I also wanted to be able to provide care for women in a field with a shortage of female doctors.

In my spare time I love traveling the world and learning about other cultures. I feel so grateful that I got back from Brazil just before this pandemic began because I know it may be awhile before I can travel again!

A fun fact about me is I have an obsession with hedgehogs. They are adorable and I can’t get enough of them 😊. @ Charleston, South Carolina
