While it may feel like a losing battle at times, your body has an incredible built-in detoxification system to combat those impurities. Today, we're taking a closer look at one of its hardest-working members: the liver.

This "project manager"—as we affectionately call it— performs more than 500 vital functions throughout the body. Among its many responsibilities, it:

Converts ammonia, a toxic byproduct of protein metabolism, into urea which can be eliminated in the urine.

Processes medications, alcohol, and other substances in the bloodstream.

Produces bile, which helps remove waste from the body through the digestive tract.

You may be wondering, "If the liver already detoxifies my body, what's the point of doing a detox program or cleanse?"

The answer is simple: While your liver is incredibly efficient, it can become strained when it is consistently overloaded.

Over time, we can overburden our liver by:

Overeating

Consuming alcohol

Eating excessive amounts of processed sugar

Carrying excess body fat

Frequently using certain medications (e.g., acetaminophen, anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.)

Overusing certain supplements (e.g., kava kava, vitamin A)

These conditions and habits may contribute to liver inflammation and hinder its ability to function at its best. Common signs of liver distress can include fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, dark-colored urine, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes).

The more we abuse our liver, the less functional it becomes. In many cases, going through a detox can help to reverse some of the damage and ease the liver's burden so it can operate more smoothly.

A liver detox doesn't have to be complicated. In reality, making a few lifestyle adjustments can help support this vital organ in a remarkable way. These changes include:

Avoiding overeating to reduce strain on the liver.

Avoiding alcohol to reduce the risk of cirrhosis (scarring).

Maintaining a healthy weight to help prevent liver inflammation from excess fatty tissue.

Choosing a whole-food, plant-based diet rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains.

Using liver-supportive herbs known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities, such as milk thistle, ginger, garlic, and turmeric. Just remember to consult with your healthcare provider before using supplements, especially if you are taking medication.

One of the liver's most remarkable qualities is its ability to regenerate after being damaged. By recognizing early warning signs and making supportive lifestyle changes, you can help this incredible organ continue doing its job for years to come.

See you tomorrow as we continue our tour of the body's incredible detoxification systems!

To your health,

🔗 Putting It All Together
Even though the Bible doesn’t list them as a trio, you can see a powerful pattern:
Element
Role in Life
Spiritual Meaning
💧 Water
Sustains life
Renewal, eternal life
🧂 Salt
Preserves life
Faithfulness, purity
🌬️ Breath/Air
Creates life
God’s life-giving power
🧠 Big Insight
Together, these show that life comes from God, is sustained by Him, and must be preserved through faithfulness.
Breath → God gives life
Water → God sustains life
Salt → God calls us to preserve what is good
In One Sentence:
The Bible teaches that God is the source of all life—giving it through breath, sustaining it like water, and preserving it like salt.

Leviticus 2:13

You shall season all your grain offerings with salt. You shall not let the salt of the covenant with your God be missing from your grain offering; with all your offerings you shall offer salt.

Mathew 5:13-16

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Salt and water are the top 2 essential ingredients for all life!
No way that’s a coincidence!

One meal a day $30 and hydration $5 that lead to longevity sounds so much better! ❤️
