My favourite months are August and September. From the light, shapeshifting and intense season of Fire, there is a warmer and lower light shining through. More moisture, more density and matter, more weight.
Itβs happening right now, the transition from the peak of dynamic Yang back to more containment, more Yin.
I feel it in my bones.
In late summer, the melancholic ache is felt before itβs spoken. Perhaps my body remembers going back to school after summer break. Buying colorful pens and empty notebooks. Strawberry scented erasers and reflectors to attach to the backpack because the walk to and from the school bus got darker day by day.
The feeling of a mellow restart hums in my bones. Between processing the joy of what has been and receiving a new beginning.
Itβs different now and Iβve lived in 7 countries since waiting for the bus in a pitch black cold Lapland. Regardless of location, I still feel the rhythm of change when this season starts. Shifting into predictability and integration is strangely comforting.
What is it like for you?
βThe creativity of fire coagulates, contracts and transforms into the generous, nourishing bounty of Earth. Yet, as the season cycle tips back into darkness, Earth reminds us that unless we enjoy and share her gifts, they will ultimately end up rotting in the field. Earth calls us to give and receive, to assimilate, transform and deliver while we digest.β -Lorie Dechar
