Your heart has been beating since 22 days after conception and will not stop until the moment of death.

The heart is seen as the governor of the body, the Supreme controller. Without the heart, the rhythm of life is silence.

At its center is a void. Emptiness (wu). A space that must be protected so the spirit of the heart, the Shen, has a home.

The heart does this through wu wei, effortless action. Knowing when to act and when to be still. And the heart’s gate keepers: the small intestine, the pericardium and the triple burner. Energetically, they help discern what’s yours and what’s not. What and who gets to come all the way in, and touch the heart.

Summer is the peak of Yang energy. Can you feel it?
Heat, intensity and being pulled from our nests out into the world. The Fire season asks us to find balance between connection, space and boundaries.

Join me for a Yin Yoga journey exploring the fire element and the gatekeepers of the heart.

Did you know that your heart can hold paradoxes, and still, it knows your deepest truth at all times?

If you’ve struggled with setting boundaries or if you feel transparent in this wild world we live in, you’re not alone.

The fire season opens the door to your heart, it swirls in with flames of impermanence and expansive heat that yearns to holds you accountable for living life fully.

You are invited to join me in a Yin Yoga Journey on June 18th, where we will explore the energetic qualities of the heart and the meridians connected to the fire element.

The fire element in TCM governs the heart, joy, and our capacity for connection. Summer is when it peaks — and when we feel its excess most clearly. Learning to tend that fire rather than be consumed by it changes everything.

The longing to be together with others. The longing to return to yourself. Fire needs space, connection and boundaries to thrive.

The calm joy of simply being lives in the cave of the heart. This is your invitation to meet yourself exactly there.

Hope to see you there ❤️‍🔥

If you’re able to be with the ones you love, travel freely and feel safe where you are - you have privilege in this life.

Feeling deeply with everyone who is not.

I know I have so much more luck than the majority of people being shuffled around on this earth by man-made rules of separation and injustice. Still, after nine months of figuring out where to land softly, the path keeps changing.

Two days ago we were informed of a new rule: applicants of a visa status change have to leave the country. So here we are, breathing in the unknown again, because the love of my life and I are from different countries.

In an ongoing practice of attuning the concept of ‘home’ back to the heart, again and again.

As we’re trying to figure out,

where to go next.

I wonder what this world would look like if we were taught to celebrate vulnerability from an early age. I wonder how our lives would be different if we allowed ourselves to play more, express our love more, share more intimately about what we’re struggling with and talk about the small ordinary things we love.

To me, courage is to drink the day in and be all in for it, wherever and however we are. Because this is already it. And I know, it’s not always that easy.

The wood-fire bridge is happening in nature right now, as the season is shifting from spring to summer. This is the natural world extending itself from fullness to fullness without hesitation. Blossoming is courageous, its the seed giving it all to this one life just because it can, instead of waiting in the dark soil.

When your acting with clear direction, hope and a willingness to grow (wood qualities) toward a vision that is aligned with the hearts truth (fire element) —> courage comes alive.

The moment after a courageous act can feel like sweet completion, a purr of satisfaction around the heart. In that very moment it doesn’t matter what happens next.

Join me tomorrow for a Yin Journey into the wood-fire bridge and courage.
Thursday 18th, 19:00-20:30 CEST

Weaving acupressure, somatic practices for nervous system support and guided meditation into a Yin journey to hold you through the fire season without burning out.

I believe that yoga practiced TOGETHER hits different than solo practices. It guides us towards ourselves in a shared space where our nervous systems are mirrors, and there is a possibility for co-regulation.

If you feel comfortable with your teacher and who or what is in the room, chances are you are able to sink deeper into yourself. And as facilitators, we can soften the pressure of delivering “the right thing” because it’s more important to be present with the space exactly as we are. Then we can be felt, and that is what brings relaxation in connection.

The shared physical yoga spaces is what I’ve missed the most the last few months. Even through, that feeling of togetherness has been coming back since we started gathering online. It’s a privilege and a gift to be able meet in practice.

If you have joined any of my online classes lately - THANK YOU for being here!!! It is such a joy to share yoga again. 🪶

To act with courage is to act from the deepest part of yourself.

The Wood-Fire bridge is the change process that brings us from spring to summer. Energetically, it’s happening within you when you feel a calling to step into your life, whatever that means to you.

It’s the moment when 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭.

I’ve felt most courageous in times when I have chosen my own life. When I quit my business job to start teaching yoga full time (12 yrs ago now!). And lately, when I chose to trust in love and togetherness after a lifetime of doing everything alone.

Courage is daring to listen to the heart’s song, even when it escapes the beaten track and takes you into the unknown. It might be uncomfortable. Often, that discomfort is crucial for intentional change to happen.

In the natural world right now, we see bursting aliveness expressed in colour, form and radiance. Everything starts to bloom in its own unique way and says “hey, this is life moving through as me.”

A practice for you to connect with this time of unfolding and maturing >> take a moment with these questions and maybe, let them move something in you:

>> What is the vision your heart is holding for your life?

>> What does devotion mean to you?

>> What would it feel like to trust your own path?
.and there’s more, come and explore Courage from the inside out: 90 mins of Yin yoga, poetry, nervous system attunement and guided meditation. Recording available.

👣

as blood must
circulate
through a body to be vital,

as water must pass
through the gills
for a fish to be alive,

the dance of our spirits
must move through us
if we are to know
and feel our place

in the mysterious
scheme of things.

For it is the dance of spirit
that opens us
to who we are.

>>
From ’the exquisite risk’ by mark nepo.

I hold this close to heart today
after countless changes, moves and risks taken
now dancing on foreign lands

with hope in my chest
and softness in my belly
gaze lifted,
there is freedom
in my hands

and I can taste the fruits of courage

❤️

I hope you are able to dance somehow
wherever you are.

For as long as I can remember, I have been wanting to know, wanting to feel, wanting to understand the fabric of aliveness. How its woven and why.

Is my inner experience the same as yours?
What is that field beneath it all that connects us, even beyond lifetimes?
How can I let that primordial wisdom, which is not yours or mine, live through me?
Can I touch the immanent?

What is awareness?
Formless, wordless, essentially ungraspable. It can’t be described, only known by direct experience. When awareness is aware of itself. Indian philosophy refers to it as ’atman’, which can be translates as the word ’Self’ or ’itself’.

Sally Kempton’s words:

”Like oil in sesame seeds, like ghee in butter, the Self lies within the mind.

The Self is what makes the mind think, but cannot be thought by the mind.

That which shines through all senses, yet is without senses.

Any one of these statements, if you were to ruminate over it, would give you a feeling for the Self, for pure awareness. ”

That’s why yoga had my heart from the start, two decades ago. It felt like it brought me closer to the questions that opened my heart to life itself.

And to be honest, as I study and explore, the questions multiply. In a humbling cycle of going deeper, then shallower, then deeper again and in and out and out and in.
It doesn’t let me fall asleep.

I’d love to hear what its like for you🤍

🐉

It’s 24 hours until we meet in my Sunday Yin workshop Hope. Since the doors opened I’ve received messages from friends, students and strangers from all over the world sharing that they need exactly this, or that they have a friend who does.

And I feel it in my bones, we need resources, tools and and spaces to rest our bodies into feeling possibilities and ease our minds into having more clarity. The world is so messed up, that naturally brings us into fear and contraction. Your emotional responses, even anger/frustration as well as capacity for compassion is needed more than ever.

When we come together in practice to resource ourselves and share the intention of deep listening, tune into what wants to move through and open to receive our own personal HOW’s.. thats when un-stucking starts to happen.

I love this poem, written by Lorie Dechar specifically for one of the acupoints we will work with during the Hope workshop: Liver 3, Tai Chong, also called Supreme Rushing.

Ice melts and water
gushes up. Between black stones
wild cress sprouts green.
