Happy Juneteenth!

It’s a holiday of joy, but also one for reflection on how the past impacts today.

For us, that means thinking of equity in healthcare!

Providing medical care at home means we meet families in their space where we can honor their traditions, listen to their stories, and build a foundation of genuine trust.

Here are some important reminders for Men’s Health Month:

There’s nothing wrong with seeking medical help if something feels off.

Pain does not have to be an accepted part of your medical journey.

Lifestyle habits can make a huge difference in your longevity and health.

You’re used to taking care of others; now it’s time to care for your health!

The first woman to officially join the U.S. military in a non-nurse role was Loretta Perfectus Walsh in 1917, during World War I.

Loretta achieved the rank of Chief Yeoman before the war ended, and all women in her role were released from active duty.

Since then, women have become a vital force in the military, serving at all levels in tactical, organizational, and leadership roles.

We salute your legacy — and Loretta’s — as trailblazers and dedicated service members.

Thank you, CNAs, for providing daily care — as well as medical assistance — with empathy and grace.

🎶 Music has a special way of bringing people together, sparking memories, and lifting spirits. 🎶

Clair from Adoration Hospice recently hosted a music therapy session at Oaks at Eagles Landing, where residents enjoyed singing, laughter, and connection. Music therapy provides more than entertainment – it can enhance mood, encourage social engagement, stimulate memory, and promote overall well-being.

Seeing the residents smile, tap their feet, sing along to familiar tunes, and share special memories reminds us of the incredible impact music can have on the mind, body, and soul.

We are grateful for opportunities like these that can help enrich the lives of those we serve every day.

Medical trauma impacts an estimated 12-25% of people who have experienced a life-threatening medical event.

It can manifest itself as an aversion to hospitals, sights, and sounds that are reminiscent of the medical event, a fear of something going wrong with your daily medical care, or a hyper-awareness of changes in how you feel.

We try to bring comfort where we can for patients experiencing the lingering impacts of trauma. Our care at home keeps patients out of hospitals as much as possible. Our consistent and knowledgeable presence serves as a safeguard against missing a medical warning sign. Our calming demeanor is meant to soothe.

With the right mental health care, medical trauma can subside. We aim to be part of the solution as you or your loved one heals.

Your positive presence when visiting a loved one with Alzheimer’s makes a difference!

Research suggests that the emotional state of a visitor stays with a person with Alzheimer’s, even if they don’t remember the details.

Frequent visits, music, jokes, and favorite foods — all these things can brighten up your loved one’s life. So keep showing up and showing your love!

The veteran to veteran bond is like no other. Which is why we’re proud to have so many people on our team who have also served in the military.

There’s an instant comfort and feeling of understanding between our veteran team members and the veterans we serve. And it’s just as important to us as it is to our patients.
