After weeks of watching this mystery vine take off in the greenhouse, untangling it, redirecting it, and trying to figure out what in the world had decided to grow there… we finally have an answer. 😂😬

Bur cucumber.
(…I think…)

Never heard of it before. Never planted it. But it had no problem making itself right at home.

The little white flowers were the first clue. Then I noticed the yellow jacket hanging around them, which definitely caught my attention and made me keep a closer eye.

Especially because this thing grows FAST.

And in what felt like the blink of an eye, everything changed.

By Sunday morning, the yellow jackets seemed to have tripled almost overnight. There was even a wasp buzzing around, and flies had joined the party too.

The greenhouse itself felt like it had been invaded.

My husband had to come in and help me deal with it - which was a joy considering I was basically asking him to walk into a greenhouse full of yellow jackets knowing there was a pretty good chance one of us, if not both of us, was getting stung. 😬

And because I really didn’t want to start spraying anything in the greenhouse, especially around everything else growing in there, I had to make a call.

The flowers may have been feeding the pollinators, but the security detail had gotten out of hand.

So out it went.

After all that time spent untangling vines, redirecting growth, and trying to figure out what I had on my hands, the plant I never planted managed to teach me something.

You live and learn… 🌿😂🐝

A to Z Apothecary is back at O’Malley’s Farm today! 🌿

Come out, get some fresh air, pick some flowers, and stop by A to Z Apothecary to see what we brought along today. 💐

It’s a beautiful day to spend a little time at the farm. See you there! 🌿

I’ve got plans. 🍍🍑

My mind has been churning for a few days now since my niece asked me to make her some fruity teas.

And this one actually makes me a little excited.

She has been slowly using some of my products, noticing the benefits for herself, and I think she may finally be starting to open the door a little wider to the world of herbalism.

So the second she asked me about tea, my brain went straight to work because there is no way I’m wasting this opportunity!

If she wants fruity tea, then I want to make her something that gives her the flavors she’s looking for while also letting me pair those fruits with herbs that can nourish her too.

So this is step one: building the stash.

Peaches first, and some of these pineapples are getting dehydrated for her teas too. Not all of them though. I have a few other plans for those, but that’s a story for another day. 😂🍍

Next up will be apples, strawberries, and raspberries.

Once I have enough dehydrated fruit tucked away, then I can start pulling out the herbs, mixing and matching, and seeing what kind of blends I can come up with.

She specifically asked that the first batch be something with peaches and apples.

So that’s where we start. 🍑🍎

Greenhouse Therapy 🌿🥒

The apothecary and the greenhouse have become my two favorite places to disappear.

They’re the places where my brain finally gets to be quiet.

In the apothecary, it’s the familiar scent of herbs and essential oils.

In the greenhouse, it’s watching life unfold one sprout at a time.

This is my first year growing medicinal herbs… honestly, my first real attempt at growing much of anything since I have a tendency to kill plants. I could probably kill a cactus. So the fact that this greenhouse is actually thriving still amazes me.

I knew I was late getting seeds in, but I planted them anyway. Some herbs came up fairly quickly. Others apparently needed a little more encouragement.

Every morning before work and every evening when I get home, I make my rounds, water what needs watering, check on everyone, talk to them, and ask the ones who still haven’t shown up…

“Any day now…”

And apparently, they do listen.

Weeks after planting, calendula started popping up. Then marshmallow and then tulsi decided to make an appearance.

And now there have been other tiny seedlings popping up nearby. Apparently, the greenhouse isn’t done surprising me yet.

Then came the real surprise…

The cucumber. 🥒

I didn’t plant it. It just appeared. But somehow it’s become one of my favorite plants to check on.

Every morning I’m untangling vines and redirecting tendrils from herbs, stakes, strings… basically anything within reach. By the time I get home from work, it’s usually grabbed onto something else.

At the rate it’s growing, I’m pretty sure one of these days I’m going to walk into the greenhouse and come out looking like Poison Ivy. 🌿😂

And apparently, the cucumber has started attracting visitors.

Some people get bees pollinating their cucumbers.

I get yellow jackets. 😂

So at this point, I’m not entirely sure who is running this greenhouse anymore. I planted medicinal herbs, a cucumber invited itself in, and now it apparently has security.

But that’s pretty much what I love about being out there. There’s always something happening, something growing, or something completely unexpected waiting for me.

For a little while every morning and every evening, the rest of the world gets quiet… and I get to enjoy whatever nature decided to do while I was gone. 💚

Apparently, getting back on track with my ginger shots meant making sure I wasn’t going to run out anytime soon.

It started with the same handful of little bottles lined up and ready for ginger, turmeric, lemon and honey shots I always make.

And then somehow, that handful of bottles became ALL the bottles.

I just kept making them.

Until I ran out of lemons.

I still had one last batch ready to go through the juicer, so I figured I’d finish that and call it a day.

Then I ran out of honey.

And somehow I also managed to run out of little bottles.

But you know what happens when you see the empty honey bottle?

You have a perfectly good bottle coated with honey waiting to be filled! 😂

Two birds. One stone. Problem solved.

So yes… that is ginger shot in the honey bottle.

🌿 Under Wraps is officially being added to the A to Z Apothecary website lineup!

But before Under Wraps makes its way onto the website, there’s one thing I’d love your input on - which container would you rather use?

🤍 Option A — Classic Deodorant Stick
The traditional wider, oval-style container with the twist wheel at the bottom.

🤍 Option B — Deodorant Tube
A taller, narrower twist-up tube with a smaller application surface.

Both hold the exact same amount — 2 oz. So there’s no difference in how much deodorant you’re getting. It comes down entirely to which style feels better and easier to use.

Cast your vote: A or B?

And if there’s a reason you strongly prefer one over the other, leave that in the comments too - I’d love to hear why.

A — Classic Oval Stick
B — Narrow Tube

Under Wraps may be keeping odor quiet… but apparently its packaging is up for public debate. 😂🌿

And just like that… I lost my entire crew to a hayride. 😂

Apparently, when you bring a little bit of nature to a vendor market, nature follows. 🌿🐝

The bees have been visiting A to Z Apothecary all morning - on the flowers, on the products, they seem to be making their way around the whole display.

With a table full of herbs, plant-infused oils, and all things nature, somehow this feels about right.

Even the bees found their way to A to Z Apothecary today. 🐝
