🍐 TCM FOOD TIP: EAT WITH THE SEASONS
In classical Chinese medicine, fall is associated with the Lungs, making this a great time to focus on nourishing, warming foods.
Think: cooked pears, apples, squash, sweet potatoes, oats, ginger, soups and stews. 🍎🥣
☕ Don't forget what you're drinking! As the weather cools, reach for warm herbal teas such as fresh ginger, cinnamon, or ginger with jujube/red dates instead of always reaching for something iced.
🌿 Chinese herbal medicine also has a long tradition of supporting the body through seasonal changes. Formulas such as Yu Ping Feng San (Jade Windscreen) are traditionally used to support defensive Qi, while formulas such as Gui Zhi Tang or Yin Qiao San may be considered for particular early cold patterns. Herbal formulas should be selected according to your individual Chinese medicine pattern—not used as a one-size-fits-all cold remedy.
As the weather cools, swap some of those cold summer foods for warm, cooked meals that are easier on digestion.
🌿 Food, acupuncture and herbal medicine are all ways we can support the body as the seasons change.
