"Disappear" turns 22 today. Hoobastank released it on October 18, 2004, as the fourth single pulled from "The Reason," with Howard Benson again behind the board.

By late 2004 "The Reason" had already pushed three singles into rotation, and the title track had turned the California band into a fixture on rock radio and MTV programming that year. Island kept working the record well past its initial run, and "Disappear" came out of that extended campaign, carrying the same production team that shaped the rest of the album.

Four singles off one album was not the norm for a band still finding its footing, and it stretched the commercial life of "The Reason" into a second year. The record has not matched that single count since.

"Ash in the Wind" turns two today. It was the third single pulled from "Revolution," built around the kind of slow burn chorus meant to fill an arena before the lights even come up.

The single landed on October 18, 2022, through Hear It Loud, the label still handling Skillet's releases. Two singles had already come off "Revolution" by then, so this one arrived as the deep cut turned radio push.

Two years later, the track still keeps "Revolution" in rotation well past the usual album cycle. The band has not said whether another cut from that record gets the same treatment.

Twenty six years ago today, Limp Bizkit put out "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water", their third album. It moved over 6.7 million copies in the United States and crossed 10 million worldwide.

The record followed 1999's "Significant Other" and shipped on CD, vinyl, cassette and digital through Flip Records and Interscope. Terry Date produced it with the band, and Swizz Beatz got a credit too, an unusual pairing for nu metal in 2000. The singles "Take a Look Around", "My Generation", "Rollin'", "My Way" and "Boiler" carried it through the year.

That October week set the record for the fastest selling rock release in U.S. history. Swizz Beatz's presence on a rock record was rare for the scene at the time.

Biohazard released 'Divided We Fall' one year ago today, their tenth studio album. Matt Hyde produced the record, eleven tracks running thirty eight minutes and eight seconds.

The album ended a thirteen year wait since 'Reborn in Defiance' came out on Nuclear Blast in 2012. Biohazard formed in Brooklyn in 1988, and across their catalogue the band has moved through Roadrunner, Warner Bros, Mercury, Sanctuary and SPV before landing on BLKIIBLK this time.

No chart position or certification is listed for 'Divided We Fall'. It's the first time Biohazard has released a studio album through BLKIIBLK, distributed by Frontiers Records.

"Trip the Darkness" turns fifteen today. The riff hits harder than anything Lacuna Coil had put out before it, all low end and clipped guitar built to open a record, not close one. It was the first single pulled from "Dark Adrenaline".

Don Gilmore sat behind the board, a name the scene knew from Linkin Park and Good Charlotte. Century Media released it on October 17, 2011, the lead track off a record that pushed the Milan band away from their gothic roots toward straight aggression.

"Dark Adrenaline" became the record where Lacuna Coil traded atmosphere for muscle. The argument over that trade still runs through every comment section the band posts in.

"Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water" hit stores on October 17, 2000, moving 1,054,511 copies in its first week, still the record for the fastest selling rock album in US history.

It followed "Significant Other" from 1999, cut with Terry Date, the band itself and Swizz Beatz, and released through Flip Records and Interscope on CD, vinyl, cassette and digital. That October, "Take a Look Around" and "My Generation" ran on Total Request Live as the record debuted at number one.

The album sold more than 6.7 million copies in the US and over 10 million worldwide. "Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)" shipped with an urban remix featuring Method Man, DMX and Redman that rarely gets played now.

A year ago today Biohazard put out "Divided We Fall", their tenth studio record and the first new music since 2012. Thirteen years is a long silence for a band that used to drop albums like clockwork through the nineties.

The last new Biohazard material before this was "Reborn in Defiance" on Nuclear Blast. This one came through BLKIIBLK, distributed by Frontiers Records, with Matt Hyde producing. Eleven tracks, thirty eight minutes, no filler stretching it out.

Thirteen years between records is longer than the gap between their 1990 debut and "Mata Leao". It landed on a Friday, October 17, keeping the band's old habit of lining releases up with the genre's global release day.

Chad Gray turns 55 today, and the voice that snarled through "L.D. 50" in 2000 is still working two microphones. Born in Illinois on 16 October 1971, he fronted Mudvayne's debut on Epic, produced by Garth Richardson with Shawn Crahan of Slipknot as executive producer, the same Crahan who directed the paint smeared video for "Dig". Since 2006 he's also carried Hellyeah with Vinnie Paul on drums, which makes the face paint era just one half of the story now.

Stephen Richards turns 49 today, twenty two when Taproot's "Gift" arrived in September 2000 with Ulrich Wild producing. The Ann Arbor band had put out "...Something More Than Nothing" alone in 1998, riding mp3 downloads until labels paid attention. "Again & Again" landed them in video rotation, and "Welcome" hit number 17 on the Billboard 200 in 2002, with Richards, Mike DeWolf, Phil Lipscomb and Jarrod Montague behind it. Which record defines them is still argued.
