I personally do not use the cervical position method, but many women do. The role of the cervix is to help carry s***m from the va**nal canal to the uterus. Approaching ovulation the cervix changes to make it easier for the s***m to get into the uterus. It does this by becoming soft, higher, open, and more wet (an easy way to remember this is the SHOW acronym).
Here’s how to check cervical position:
1. Wash hands
2. Get into a comfortable position. You can squat or sit on toilet. At first, it may be easier to do when you are relaxes after a shower.
3. Insert your middle finger into the va**na until you can feel your cervix. If your cervix is high, you may not be able to reach it at all. (Keep in mind everyone’s cervix is different so you’ll have to test to see how far up low and high are for yourself).
4. Ask yourself if the position is high or low, soft (like your lips) or hard (like the tip of your nose), wet or dry, and if it’s opened or closed.
5. Make sure to record what you noticed and to track yourself for at least 3 cycles before using it as a birth control method to see how your cervix changes.
