Dyscalculia and math anxiety can look alike from the outside, especially when your child is avoiding math, melting down over homework, or freezing during a test. But they’re not the same.

Dyscalculia can make math hard to understand, while math anxiety can make it feel scary or overwhelming. Some kids struggle with both at the same time. Knowing the source of your child’s challenges can make it easier to figure out how to help. What part of math seems hardest for your child right now?
