💙 Father's Day can be joyful. It can also be painful. And sometimes, it can be both.
Some celebrate fathers who were present, loving, and supportive.
Others will miss fathers who have passed away.
Some will grieve relationships they never had.
Some fathers will celebrate surrounded by family.
Others may spend the day separated from children they love deeply.
Some parents are mourning the loss of a child.
Some are navigating estrangement, divorce, or complicated family dynamics.
And many mothers have stepped into both roles, carrying the responsibilities of mother and father for years.
Father's Day often brings up more than memories.
It can stir feelings of gratitude, grief, anger, longing, pride, regret, loneliness, relief, or hope.
Whatever you're feeling today...
Your experience is valid.
If you're feeling overwhelmed by this holiday, try this simple 60-second exercise: ( If you can go outside and stand barefoot on a patch of grass, or soft soil, you'll feel even better!) 👌
💙 A Simple Anxiety Reset for Father's Day
Find a quiet place where you can safely close your eyes.
Place one hand on your heart and one on your stomach.
Take a slow breath in through your nose for a count of 4.
Hold your breath gently for a count of 4.
Exhale slowly out the nose for a count of 6.
Repeat three times.
Eyes still closed, breathing normally, ... quietly say:
- "I allow myself to feel what I feel today."
- "I do not have to force joy, or push away sadness today."
- "I can honor my experience exactly as it is."
Whether you're celebrating, grieving, remembering, healing, or simply getting through the day, please be gentle with yourself.
And if this holiday has stirred up grief, anxiety, overwhelm, or unresolved emotions, support is available.
