To know my kids love Gideon so much and are always so attentive to him brings so much joy to my heart.

One of Gideon's favorite things is bubbles 🫧. Since receiving his tobii dynanvox eye gaze device he loves to ask for bubbles. It is so funny to see his personality especially if you aren't blowing bubbles fast enough.

He really missed his siblings today when they were at school and was so excited for Claudia to play with him for a little before bed. I couldn't help but snap a few pictures and even capture some video. I am so beyond thankful for these amazing, kind, loving kids!🥰

Summer is coming to an end. School is starting up and Gideon will begin adjusting to quieter days without his siblings home.

Gideon has been doing amazing and has had so much growth the past few months. He is enjoying his stander more and more. I can't believe how tall he is getting!

There are some HUGE breakthroughs on the horizon for Gideon and our family. We are praying that God continues to open doors in the days, weeks and months ahead.

As we wait, we praise God for all he has done.

"Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man."

Gideon today is the day we celebrate you! You are the big 5, a whole hand-full! You have grown and overcome so much in these long, yet short 5 years. I definitely am not the same person I was the day we met. You have changed me in ways I never imagined possible. You scare me more often than I would like but you also helped shape my overall outlook on life. We often take so much for granted but you help us to appreciate every small moment and look for the joy in everything. You are the grand finale our family needed and the one that brings everyone together! We are so proud of you and every challenge you overcome is a testament of God's glory and goodness! You are the bravest boy I know, my Mighty Warrior! Happy 5th birthday big guy! We love you so big!

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward." Psalm 127:3

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for Gideon this week! His levels have stabilized and we were able to get discharged today! We are so thankful for all of our amazing doctors and nurses who help care for us while inpatient. Gideon will have labs drawn again in a few days to keep a close eye on his levels to ensure he is maintaining everything appropriately.

Please continue to pray that he continues to remain stable so we can stay home with the family. Thank you again for all of the prayers, love and encouragement!💗

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God."

February was a very trialsome month for Gideon. He spent a week in the hospital with the stomach bug and then he came down with the flu. He was doing so well with Tamiflu, Tylenol and Motrin, keeping his fever down enough to stay out of the hospital. Unfortunately, he has been battling with diarrhea as a side effect and his kidneys have been struggling to keep up. His labs today showed his levels were approaching a critcal high and he would need to be admitted to get fluids to help replenish what he is losing. So tonight we find ourselves once again in the ED being admitted to the children's hospital.

It can feel so defeating at times, spending countless days away from the family and stuck in the hospital but I know God has a plan for Gideon and everything he goes through is just one more page of his story that God will use for His Glory!

Tonight we are trusting God to carry us through. Please join us in praying for God's healing over Gideon and for strength and comfort for the family!

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.I will say[a] to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalms 91:1-2

Picture below of big brother Benjamin comforting Gideon while he battled the flu. 🥹And tonight Gideon snuggling his Bluey and Moose-Caboose while in the ED. 🥺

Gideon is feeling much better and we are hopefully at the tail-end of this hospital admission. He was very excited to hear the plan for today from the doctors and is giddy with excitement at the thought of going home soon.

Thank you all for your continued prayers, love and support!

I can think of very few things more beautiful than the joyful laughter of my children. It is like a sweet song to my ears, a memory to cherish always in my heart!

"I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds." Psalms 9:1

One thing we rely heavily on while inpatient is music. Filling our room with the sounds of the spirit and the word of God is so empowering when everything else is so out of our control.

Today I was just worshipping away while Gideon was sleeping and his song came on. His soul just came to life and he woke up and immediately started worshipping too! Hands in the air, giggling, and moving his body as much as he can, huge smile and all! Oh the joy of childlike faith! (He fell right back to sleep when the song was over and the next song came on!)

Thank you Brandon Lake for your song Miracle Child! There are time my emotions take over and I can't make it through the song without tears flowing down. I am so thankful for my miracle child and though I don't know the fullness of Gideon's testimony, I am confident God will use it for His Glory!

If you're unfamiliar with the song, I have listed some of the lyrics below along with the link. I hope it brings comfort to all who listen to it! 💗

"I shouldn't be alive
My future was six-feet under
One foot in the grave
No hope to be saved, yeah
I shouldn't be alive
But I'm a miracle child
Defied every diagnosis
And as close as it came
I can stand here and say
I'm a miracle child"

"You're the living, breathing God of glory
I'm a living, breathing testimony"

A week or so ago I posted on my personal page reflecting on the vows "in sickness and in health," and how we have put that in to practice time after time in ways we have never imagined.

Today, on this Valentines Day, is another example of truly living out in sickness and in health.

Gideon is still admitted at the children's hospital. His sepsis came back clear no infection. However, since he has been throwing up so much he is loosing a lot of electrolytes and his body isn't replacing them fast enough, even on IV fluids. His kidneys just struggle so much. His sodium levels are still higher than they should be, putting him at high risk of more seizures, among other issues.

We made some changes today to add more free water in hopes of getting him more hydrated to balance out the electrolytes and lower the sodium. Some concerns were also raised about his calcium levels so additional testing is in process.

Originally, the plan was to discharge today after getting a negative sepsis rule out but Gideon is making it clear that he needs more time to recover. The doctors are expecting him to be in until at least Wednesday, possibly Thursday.

We spent our day worshiping our Savior, calling daddy and siblings, opening valentines from the nurses and playing with play doh, even making a rose.

It wasn't a perfect valentines day by any means but it just gives another perspective on what is really important in this life. We are both so ready to be home with the rest of the family!

"The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing" Zephaniah 3:17

We have had a stomach bug making it's way through the house. As much as I tried to shield Gideon from it, it hit him yesterday. He threw up several times throughout the day but we were able to keep his blood sugar regulated and he didn't have any fevers. Last night around midnight Gideon began seizing, thankfully I was still awake to take notice. We gave 2 rounds of rescue and couldn't get it under control. We were transported via ambulance to Geisinger and are still in the ED awaiting a bed on the children's floor.

Gideon is already in better spirits. Thank you all for your continued prayers, love and support!

"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4: 16-18

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm during this snow storm.

Since Gideon can't go out and play in the snow, mommy brought some snow inside for him to explore. Please enjoy the many expressions of Gideon doing something new to him.

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18
