Some thoughts for the upcoming holiday of gratitude! ❤️ What nourishes you?

food should nourish
that can (and should be) nutritional
but it can also be:
+ the enjoyment of your favorites
+ the nostalgia of tradition
+ the community of shared meals
holiday meals can be hard to navigate when you are trying to “eat healthy”
but remember, food is more than calories + health is more than how you look
(that was a note to self)

What do the words we use have to do with sustainable wellness?

Our words give a peek into our current perception. In this case, our pursuit of sustainable wellness can feel heavy or light dependent on the words we choose to use.

•Notice your “yes”.
Thanks to I’ve found that when I say “yes” [and mean it] I feel gratitude, joy, and aligned with my best self. What do you find yourself feeling when you say “yes” throughout your day?

•Notice your “sorry”
Maybe it’s a Midwest thing but if you’re anything like me, I used to say “sorry” to the doorframe I ran into 😂 Sometimes we find ourselves apologizing to others for being our best selves. When we’re aligned with our best self, there’s an innate boundary created to protect that space for a warranted apology.

•Notice your self-talk
If you did my 20 Day Mindfulness Challenge, I touched on this! How we talk to ourselves matters & it can make or break our understanding, motivation, and confidence in an experience. This is your permission to speak gently and lovingly toward yourself. Instead of using words like “I should” try using “I choose”. You may find that you no longer choose certain things in your life and that is HEALTHY! 🤭 @ Milwaukee, Wisconsin

A Friday thought: What role does support play in your journey toward sustainable wellness?

This question is part of the foundation of my mission and much of my understanding of this has stemmed from my marriage!

Hear me out:

Support is pillar of your overall wellness and can be multi-faceted. To support someone is to walk with, to appreciate their values without asking them to change, and navigating their strengths & areas of growth with a thoughtful focus on what his/her best self looks like. This thoughtful focus can create a framework without restricting exploration of what “could be” and evolves as we evolve.
[Amen for growth & my sweet loving husband Ben]

The creation of this company is rooted in recognition that many individuals desire judge-free support and a framework for their journey toward their best self. What you do and who you are deserve to be celebrated! ❤️

I’m committed to supporting you on your way to sustainable wellness as a health coach/fellow human. With that said, I’m reframing my services so they are more accessible and fruitful. I appreciate you walking with me as I pivot to be more intentional and aligned in what I’m offering, all for the sake of serving and supporting you to my best ability! 💕

On Mondays, let’s talk mindfulness...

This week is about being mindful of our surroundings. These are simple tools to incorporate mindfulness into your moments, days, and relationships.

• Notice 3 new colors today
This is one of my favorites as it brings us to our current space and is especially beautiful this time of year ☺️

• Notice your neighbor
We SEE many people everyday [virtually & physically] but that doesn’t necessarily mean we NOTICE them. Next person you walk by, recognize them. Say hello & smile! Even if they don’t return the gesture, the worse thing you did was lightened your mood 🤭

• Notice 2 new sounds
There is SO. MUCH. BUZZ. today. Talking, coughing, podcasts, Spotify, you name it! So many sounds & our heads are full, constantly. Slow enough to recognize 2 new sounds.

Today I share my top 3 questions I ask myself consistently throughout the day to be better aligned with my best self, therefore steering me toward sustainable wellness. I value being authentic and realistic with you, even when it shows up as not knowing if the word is maligned or misaligned 😜 Tell me, which questions resonated most with you?

Monday Motivation and Reality Check - A motto to live by: "Everything happens for a reason." This is not only a motto live by, but a mindset. The motivational quote chosen today takes this motto yet another step. Finding the good or "silver lining," if you will, in the bad or a tragedy helps to adjust a pessimistic mindset to a more positive outlook. Acceptance of a poor situation isn't easy, but finding the lesson or learning to grow can help to lessen the severity. Mindset is huge! Keep looking forward and learning from each situation!

The Earth thanks you, LEGO! 😊

If you buy a Lego set today, the toy bricks come packed in tiny numbered plastic bags. Every year, the toy manufacturer uses hundreds of millions of those bags. But the company is starting to phase out single-use plastic, with the goal of making its packaging sustainable by 2025—and those bags are...

You guys, my heart is bursting with excitement for this new organization in our beautiful city! Milwaukee Diaper Mission is live and is going to be life changing!!

I met Meagan back when she facilitated the new parent group at the Bay View Community Center which I relied on heavily as a new mama for mutual support and friendship. She has always been super passionate about cloth diapering and when she decided to start a business around cloth diaper education, I was so pumped! And when that vision grew into a FULL BLOWN DIAPER BANK I was over the moon! I love watching a passion and idea grow into such a meaningful manifestation and am so proud of her and her cofounder for bringing this to life.

Can you believe Milwaukee hasn’t had a non profit diaper bank to meet this need in our city? 1 in 3 families in the US struggles to afford diapers and Milwaukee Diaper Mission aims to close that gap in our city, collecting and distributing diaper and period supplies to families. This will include disposable AND reusable options, education, and ongoing support.

We are a founding sponsor of this organization and could not be more aligned with their mission. We are also a drop spot for supply collection so if you are inspired by this work, you can donate diapers, wipes, and period supplies (disposable or reusable for all!) with us at the shop. If you have questions on what we accept, let me know! They also have a go fund me started and an Amazon wishlist, so check those out!

Thank you for opening your heart to this beautiful work. Being a parent or caretaker to a new baby is a sacred space to be in and supporting families through the process is what a village is meant to do. Thank you for playing a role in supporting and uplifting yours 🥰

Monday Motivation and Reality Check - Reactive decisions can have long-lasting effects on the person making them, those around them, and the ripple effect may not be appreciated until later in life. This is consistent with health choices. Making good choices now for one's health is crucial to a long and healthy life. Making choices that feel good in the moment may not have an immediate impact on one's health, but making those choices consistently over a long period of time will take a toll. Make good choices now for a better life now and later!
