📢 ANNOUNCEMENT 📢

Dr. Erica is not new to the crew, but new to the role.

She is officially stepping away from patient care (at least for now) to help grow & have a larger impact!

“I have enjoyed treating, but I’ve always wanted to have a larger impact for other PTs & clients. No other company is doing what CO is doing and I am very excited to be apart of it.”

She will still be putting out content, but what that content will look like will be determined as she transitions into this new role. 💯

She still has a passion for promoting health & wellness & has a lot of ideas cooking. 🧑‍🍳

Us Midwesterners rarely know a world without it 🙄

BUT it shouldn’t mean you wait to get out of pain, or you dread going to your appointments.

Another perk of mobile PT - Let me deal with the construction, you just stay put and get ready for a great session. ☺️

I took this pic after leaving one of my sessions yesterday.

You better believed I carried my backpack and treatment table across that construction so my patient could be treated for back pain.

And he felt great afterwards!

This month’s blog talks about The Skilled Nursing Academy - an online community I run that aims to improve the quality of care in skilled nursing facilities by mentoring PTs on how to advocate for their patients and themselves.

These facilities are filled with terrible productivity expectations, fraudulent billing practices, overworked and underpaid staff, burnout, & much more.

All because most of them are run by for-profit companies that don’t care about the patients or staff in them.

I’ve worked in these facilities since 2021 & have seen the good & the bad.

I refuse to accept this level of care & you should too!

Most rehab clinicians are either too burnt out or part of the problem, so l’m doing something about it.

🤯 Did you know that I also mentor fellow physical therapists?!

So many clinicians are transitioning to PRN positions to have a better work/life balance & higher pay.

With many years of experience in skilled nursing facilities (some of the highest for PRN) - I also offer 1:1 mentorship services to my clients.

👎🏻 These facilities often have no training, high expectations, and can unfortunately be filled with fraudulent practices due to the owners usually being for profit.

💵 However - for $10-20 more per hour - it can be totally worth it if you know how to master the role.

I am the only PT (that I know of) that offers this type of service and it's so needed.

My clients are usually so thankful for my assistance and I love helping them be the best PT they can be because that means I get to have a positive impact on all of their patients, too, which is more than I could ever do on my own!

Low back pain for more than 20 years, low back surgery, muscle relaxers, and so many limitations all because of an untreated leg length difference! 🤯

This quick improvement is why I do what I do! 😊

Leg length can be something totally missed and never considered when it comes to long term back pain.

Her leg length difference was on the higher end of the normal range, but when I listened to all her symptoms and did my thorough evaluation, we decided to treat it and see how it felt.

Now this 55 year old can get back to lifting, running, hockey, and F45 training without pain. 🔥

Does Your PT Understand Your Sport?! ⚽️

A little THEN ➡️ NOW over the years.

Like a lot of PTs, I got into the field after needing bilateral hip surgery when I was 14 after being diagnosed with Femoral Acetabular Impingement (FAI) that became damaging after playing so many sports. 🩼

I recovered from my surgery thanks to my PT who inspired it all.

I’ve been playing soccer for over 25 years now. 😲

I was the starting goalkeeper in college where I held the highest number of shutouts in the league and titled the best defensive player in the Midwest conference. 🙅‍♀️

Fast forward ⏩ I still play on the field every week!

It’s always been my favorite way to stay active.

Now as a PT with her own business - I get to work with a lot of soccer players.

Mainly adult players that often push through aches and pains and old injuries, don’t warm up or stretch after, and just want to have fun, hang with friends, and not get beat up too badly they can’t play the next game 😂

Having a PT who understands that & knows your sport, has been injured and recovered in your sport, & who has played and coached the sport is a priceless tool.

This is why my soccer players get better so quickly.
