Excited to be back for more at St. Michael's library this month doing a short program for kiddos! Program description below:

"This is a 4 part series for parents and children age 1 to 5 to learn and apply music therapy interventions as designed by a board certified music therapist. Sessions will include quick and easy songs and activities that harness the power of music to address developmental goals such as physical, social, behavioral, and cognitive skills."

I continue to work with Ecumen and see hospice patients 3 days a week but I'm so excited to say I've also started some contract work with young children with autism spectrum disorder and young adults with developmental disabilities!

I happened to meet a patient recently for her assessment on her birthday! We sang happy birthday, and after great initial session she said something about music I just had to share (with permission):

"Thank you for playing these old tunes that struck my heart back when I used to listen to them. They bring back memories of the day, even just washing dishes and listening to the radio. You listen to the songs and they tell you what you need to hear that day."

What wonderful thoughts from a near centurion! 🥳🎵💕

🌟 LIFE UPDATE 🌟
Today was my first day of online orientation at Ecumen as a full time music therapist with the North Branch hospice program!

Hospice and elderly care were the first populations I observed in music therapy, and working with these clients was a huge area of joy and growth for me throughout my training. I am so looking forward to continuing that work ans building relationships with my coworkers and clients in this role.☺🎵

Practice time! Guitar is one of the three primary instruments in music therapy (along with voice and piano) and has been a big area of growth for me. While I love learning new songs and techniques, it has taken some effort to get into a regular routine! 💪🏻

What motivates you to improve? 🌟
