MS and Men: Navigating the Complexities

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects individuals of various races, encompassing both black and white men. However, research has indicated that there may be nuanced differences in how MS manifests in black men compared to their white counterparts.

One study has revealed that the diagnosis rate of MS tends to be lower among black men than white men. Paradoxically, when diagnosed, black men often experience more severe symptoms and a more rapid progression of the disease. Additionally, several studies have highlighted a potential higher likelihood of depression and anxiety among black men in relation to their MS diagnosis.

It is essential to recognize that these findings are derived from limited data, emphasizing the need for further research to comprehensively comprehend the underlying factors contributing to the divergent MS experiences among different racial and ethnic groups.

Regardless of race, MS remains a complex and unpredictable condition that significantly impacts an individual's quality of life. It is of utmost importance that all individuals affected by MS, regardless of their background, receive timely and appropriate medical care and support to effectively manage their symptoms and uphold their overall well-being.

So Friday I put my big girls panties on and went OUTSIDE!!! 😬

See I suffer from an autoimmune disease and I had let “them “ scare me into hibernation. If I wasn’t going to work or the doctors you could find me at home on the couch 🛋

(Hence to why on my birthday I was in bed at 9 pm 💤😂 )

Not complaining because I am loving the safeness and peace I have created at home , especially enjoying the process of transforming my house into that HOME I always dreamed it would be with the Help of the Most High 🙏🏾

I started to feel stagnant. And complacent like I wasn’t For filling the assignment that He had set forth for me.

And like the Gentleman that he is 🥰 he reminded that It’s is not on my time but HIS!

On 4/6/22 I completed my 10th INFUSION!!! That’s equivalent to 5 years of Treatment.

So that’s 5 years of no other medication besides this steroid ( ocrevus) and my MEDZ 😙💨💨🍃

When my neurologist suggested this regimen I was extremely skeptical because I Had tried so many other RX steroids before that had failed and one even almost had a curtain call … But God 🙌🏾🙏🏾🤞🏾

I prayed about it and left it in his hands 🙌🏾 and here we are 5 years laters and I am down to the smallest and HEALTHIEST I ever Been! ( Minus This cold that’s trying to attack 🤧)

Yes there are Aces and pains but I AM HERE!!! 🙌🏾

See had to remind me even when I think he’s not working he is!!! This weight/health journey is only because of him! 🙏🏾

AND I AM READY TO SHARE!!!!

I’m no longer embarrassed of my lingering side effects. I am PROUD of where and how far I have came from!

I hope y’all ready to HEAR my RAW TRUTH!!! Cause trust me it AINT PRETTY 😒 but It’s not MY story to share! 🤞🏾🙏🏾
