In therapy sessions with "Seniors', there is reported a common source of stress of those elders who have children that manifests in symptoms of anxiety, depression and physical problems like migraine headaches, stomach issues and even more serious medical conditions. This is not necessarily being the children's "fault", but the lack of coping skills their parents have in "letting go" and/or in fears of how their children will be able to deal with life's twists and turns when that day comes "when all is said and done". The phrase offered during this time of our "life cycle" by the famous sociologist, Erik Ericson is "Despair vs Integrity".
Each day we can make choices to prioritize what's most important. "Talk therapy" can be good for the soul and can set our hearts in a place where we can know better the things we can change, what we don't have control over, when to speak, and when not to.
For today the hope can be found in this age-old piece of wisdom..."There is a time for everything and a season for every purpose under heaven"
