Business Alabama: Lorie Fleck named president of the Southeastern Section of the American Urological Association

“There have been those who felt that urology was a ‘man’s world,’ and that I would never have many patients or be able to build a successful practice,” said Fleck. “But there were many others who have served as mentors and encouraged me throughout the years. I have found that when you give your best, your time, your ability and try to remain kind and caring, then anyone can build a successful practice, even if you are in the minority.”

WBRC: Birmingham doctor wants men to speak up about prostate cancer
"A urologist in Birmingham says he’s hoping that at the right time, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and other well-known prostate cancer survivors will share their stories."

Bivins says prostate cancer can be cured if it is caught early, which is why it is critical that men over 40 get checked before they experience symptoms.
