Today I took a few minutes for myself and my yoga practice.
I arrived on my mat as myself, no mask, no ego.
My hair is unkept, there’s no makeup on my face and the only T-shirt I could manage to get into today was a shirt my husband loaned me. It was soft and stretchy. It was the first shirt I’ve been able to put on in two weeks.
Two weeks might not seem like a long time to some, but when you’re unable to do what you consider something as normal as putting on a T-shirt, it seems like a very long time.
Two weeks since I’ve been able to get on my yoga mat.
The great thing about Yoga is you don’t have to be on a mat to practice it.
Although we may arrive at Yoga through the physical practice of Asana, we learned that Yoga is so much more.
It’s an opportunity to turn inward.
Today my practice was a reminder to slow down, to breathe to release, to let go of all the things that are not serving me.
Yoga provides us with an opportunity to practice self observation.
During my practice today, I simply enjoyed stillness and listening to the sound of the rain, finding comfort with the support of my Yoga props.
What does your yoga practice look like today?
