Although I’ve been sidelined from playing due to injury, Mountain View Polo is still my polo home and my polo family. 🤍
I started playing polo with Laura in the early 2000s, and since moving to West Virginia I’ve had the privilege of watching Laura and Hugo build not only the first and only polo club in West Virginia, but a warm, generous community around it.
Mountain View has encouraged young and old to learn, play, and explore the game of polo. There have been years of friendly competition, a deep commitment to the safety and care of horses and players, and friendships built through horses, sport, and community.
As our technology and infrastructure needs continue to grow, I believe we also have a responsibility to carefully consider how we use our land and resources — and how those decisions affect the environment, local communities, and small business owners.
I know communities everywhere are facing challenges like this. This is simply the first time one has landed so close to my own family and home.

I strongly oppose the Valley North transmission line proposed to cross Mountain View Polo Club in Charles Town, WV. The proposed route would threaten West Virginia’s first and only polo club, impact local businesses and tourism, damage the Shenandoah Valley viewshed, and destroy a community built around horses, sport, and friendship. I urge Valley Link to reconsider this route and protect Mountain View Polo and the surrounding community.
