Dermaheal Mobile Wound Care

Dermaheal Mobile Wound Care Dermaheal was established in 2017 by Dr. Nicholas Mexas. His commitment to service naturally led him to wound care.

Dermaheal is a mobile wound care company created and run by a team of local physician and nurse practitioners to provide state-of-the-art and cost-effective wound care with integrity to our clients. As he served the residents of the Grand Strand and surrounding areas, he saw a great need emerging for Mobile Wound Care services. The underserved and burdened were struggling to obtain transportation

to wound care appointments which led to higher rates of infection, amputation, and death. In July 2022, Dr. Mexas partnered with his long-time colleague, Tiffany Mahaffey, FNP to expand Dermaheal’s services to the homebound. In August 2022, they saw their first client in the comfort of the home. Since opening, Dermaheal has helped more than 850 clients in Horry County.

Wound Care Wednesday! As the old saying goes a dog's mouth is cleaner...suggesting pet saliva has curative properties, modern medicine strongly warns against this practice. Allowing a dog, cat, or any other animal to lick an open human wound introduces a severe risk of bacterial infection, tissue damage, and potential amputation or death. Although your pup maybe adorable, keep their lickers on lock when you have an open wound! 🐶👅🔒 Contact Dermaheal to learn more or to make a referral: 843-333-2816.

Wound Care Wednesday! Staying hydrated in this heat is essential, but also beneficial for wound healing. Staying properly hydrated is essential for wound healing because water serves as the primary delivery system for the oxygen, nutrients, and immune cells required to repair damaged tissue. When you are dehydrated, your blood volume drops, which impairs circulation, starves the wound bed of vital repair materials, and significantly increases the risk of infection and delayed healing. Contact Dermaheal to learn more or to make a referral: 843-333-2816. 💙💧

Wound Care Wednesday 🔥 Phew has it been hot out these past few weeks! Hot sand on the beach can reach temperatures over 120-140°F, causing thermal injuries. This intense heat can quickly damage the skin on the soles of the feet, resulting in painful first- or second-degree burns, redness, and fluid-filled blisters. Using proper precautions when walking the beach, especially this time of year, is vital to protecting your feet! 🦶🏼Contact Dermaheal to learn more or to make a referral: 843-333-2816.

Wound Care Wednesday! What do we use the item seen above for? Wound cleansing, not as treatment. Sticking a regular dry gauze pad directly on a wet or weeping wound is a bad idea because the wetness causes the gauze fibers to dry out, fuse with the new healing tissue, & stick tightly to the open sore. When you pull the bandage off later, it tears away the delicate new skin cells, causing sharp pain, fresh bleeding, & delayed healing.✨️💧Contact Dermaheal to learn more or to make a referral: 843-333-2816.
