Y’all know I’m an incandescent bulb, get outside see the sun, straight candlelight & moonlight kinda gal, but not every client (including standard building codes nowadays) can go that route when designing a new healthy home. That’s why I wanted to bring on a guest that shows an *alternative* circadian friendly option in the lighting category.

Flicker free, Low voltage & a completely hardwired system caught my attention with ☀️🌚

Deconstruction is not a novel idea, but a resurging practice for those of us that see the issue at hand.

Before mechanical demolition existed, buildings were traditionally designed with re-use & disassembly in mind (mortise & tenon joints, traditional wood joinery/nails Va adhesives) & taken apart piece by piece with materials intentionally preserved for future use ensuring that little to nothing went to waste.

Today, demo is a standard part of the construction process; however, when considered closely, it is an inherently wasteful approach that discards valuable resources that could otherwise be reused.

Follow along as this 1910 historic lodge gets systemically disassembled & SAVED from trash city.

It’s official! Ryan has joined the HH team so that we can help so many more people 🙌

9 years ago I KNEW Ryan and I would be working alongside each other in some capacity. I just wasn’t quite sure specifics but brick by brick, we’ve been steadily laying a strong foundation to free ourselves from as many conventional systems as we can.

Ryan’s real estate career has been blossoming & it was obvious he needed to pursue it full time.

Friday was Ryan’s LAST day of an 18 year UPS career. Y’all remember the 😭 mixed emotions bc he loved it!

But don’t worry, his blue collar integrity, positive disposition & rolled up sleeves work ethic isn’t going anywhereeeee, we’ve got work to do🛠️

Ryan will also be covering the ‘ecology’ side of what we do here at Haus with building biology & ecology. He is passionate about helping folks with permaculture design & coaching, land preservation, natural building & wildlife conservation.
