Good Morning!

Fresh face, no filter on this Sunday morning here in Texas!

I'm notorious for sleeping in my make up πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I'm not as* crazy worried about it like I used to be because I know I used good products but still - I should be taking it off the night before 🀣

Let's talk habits. GOOD HABITS. Ever mess them up? Like forget a day and then boom, your good habit is gone like the wind? If not, well, keep scrolling 🀣

When I started with YL I went all in. Created new healthy habits, ditched and switched everything (over time) and noticed considerable differences in my health, mind and emotional well-being.

I was taking my Ningxia daily, super B for energy, illumineyes for eye support (think blue light damage), balance complete/protein powder, Mind Wise for cognitive support, collagen (Vital Proteins) & more. Supplements are really key to balancing out your body.

Then, at some point, I forgot. I forgot the Ningxia. I forgot the energy. I forgot the collagen. Stopped making my smoothies. Not all at once, but when one habit goes they seem to all go.

Before you knew it, I was more sluggish, fatigued, sleeping became more and more of a problem again, brain fog came back with a vengeance, weight fluctuation, craving foods I don't ever crave and never feeling satisfied or full... The list goes on.

You don't know what your missing until you miss it. ← this says it all.

This morning, I was late to work. I didn't sleep well last night, had my whole oil routine down which made me SO sleepy but my anxiety had different plans. I was laying in bed, mind racing and so exhausted but couldn't fall asleep. I was relaxed but mind racing. The world. My worth. My identity in Christ. Work. My apartment being a disaster. My health. My family. My friends. My weight. My wants. Fears. Gosh the list goes on. GIVE ME A BREAK. I finally had enough.

I woke up late and decided this was the morning I turned things around. Get back into my GOOD HABITS. I made coffee. Gave Naya a special egg breakfast. Made my breakfast smoothie, threw on some thieves oil, frankincense on my face and RAN out the door.

I was 7 minutes late to work this morning because of traffic and leaving a tad later than I should have. Was it worth it? 100%. I need to readjust my body. It needs to be reset.

I am on 4 hours of sleep and feel better than when I get a good solid 8 hours- just by bringing back a FEW good habits. They aren't habits again yet, but it's a start. ❀️

Make up shouldn't just sit and cake on top of your skin - it should look flawless and accentuate the beauty you already have!

What I used:

β†’ Concealer under my eyes
β†’ Liquid (I know, but trust me) Foundation
β†’ Bronzer
β†’ Blush
β†’ Volumizing mascara (2x)
β†’ Lengthening Mascara (2x)
Total Time: 7-10 minutes!

If you do a quick search on the ingredients used in your favorite make up brands you'd be disgusted. America allows too many toxic ingredients into the products you're putting on your skin - your biggest organ! They are doing harm to your skin every single day you wear them. ICK.

In 2000, cleaning products were responsible for nearly 10% of all toxic exposures reported to U.S. Poison Control Centers, accounting for 206,636 calls. Of these, 120,434 exposures involved children under six, who can swallow or spill cleaners stored or left open inside the home. Cleaning ingredients vary in the type of health hazard they pose. Some cause acute, or immediate, hazards such as skin or respiratory irritation, watery eyes, or chemical burns, while others are associated with chronic, or long-term, effects such as cancer.

The most acutely dangerous cleaning products are corrosive drain cleaners, oven cleaners, and acidic toilet bowl cleaners, according to Philip Dickey of the Washington Toxics Coalition. Corrosive chemicals can cause severe burns on eyes, skin and, if ingested, on the throat and esophagus. Ingredients with high acute toxicity include chlorine bleach and ammonia, which produce fumes that are highly irritating to eyes, nose, throat and lungs, and should not be used by people with asthma or lung or heart problems. These two chemicals pose an added threat in that they can react with each other or other chemicals to form lung-damaging gases. Combining products that contain chlorine and ammonia or ammonia and lye (in some oven cleaners) produces chloramine gases, while chlorine combined with acids (commonly used in toilet bowl cleaners) forms toxic chlorine gas.

Fragrances added to many cleaners, most notably laundry detergents and fabric softeners, may cause acute effects such as respiratory irritation, headache, sneezing, and watery eyes in sensitive individuals or allergy and asthma sufferers. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has found that one- third of the substances used in the fragrance industry are toxic. But because the chemical formulas of fragrances are considered trade secrets, companies aren’t required to list their ingredients but merely label them as containing β€œfragrance.”

Here's a fun fact about gut health:

GUT HEALTH & EMOTIONS
It may seem strange to link gut health with emotions, but there is a big reason why the two things are connected.

We’ve all heard about serotonin, especially since it is one of our β€˜happy’ hormones along with dopamine. Serotonin is the control switch for the body and brain's neurotransmitters. It helps us regulate our emotions from excited and energetic to calm and focused, so when levels are too low, problems can certainly arise.

A lot of serotonin is produced in the brain (this is what we hear about a lot with mental health needs), but a large amount is also produced in the digestive system. So much so that our gut is called the β€˜second brain.’ In fact, almost 90% of the serotonin in our bodies is produced by the peripheral nervous system in the gut. WOW.

So many things impact the gut’s ability to produce and maintain adequate levels of serotonin. A few of these include food sensitivities and allergies, acute and chronic stress, gut flora imbalances, yeast overgrowth, acute and chronic illness, conventional medication and antibiotic use. Some of these things are within our control to change and others we have to simply support and rebuild the gut after experiencing. Acute needs are definitely going to require work, but the real ticket to health is in daily actions!

Often when we crave foods high in sugar or white flour, we are innately trying to regulate low serotonin levels. These foods may give us a quick pick me up, but they also lead to a crash shortly after. BUT. There are many ways we can support the gut (second brain remember!) daily to maintain adequate serotonin (among other important things). Adding ICP Daily to your daily wellness routine is a great way to support your gut on a daily basis!

Friends!! It's 2022!!

I hope you celebrated Christmas and NYE surrounded by love and happiness.

I don't really "do" resolutions because I have always just kind of thought that they were pointless honestly. A hopeless, meaningless statement that is forgotten by MLK Day. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

However! I found myself thinking about 2022 this week and what I wanted it to look like for me. For me it came down to a few things:

1. More Jesus. I want to really read my Bible more.
2. Continue to fight harder than ever for freedom.
3. Continue to make ditch and switches from harmful products & reach for natural, holistic remedies for all things - & to help YOU do the same!

Ever since getting rid of the crap I used to put in my body & the products I used to use - I can't even explain the difference. Obviously I use a lot of young living (duh 😜) but I'm really doing y'all a disservice by not showing ALL the different products I use from YL aside from diffusing!!

My prayer for you for 2022 is to be and live well! I'd love to you help you get started πŸ₯°

BEFORE β†’ AFTER.

This weekend I traveled back home for a wedding of a sweet friend and wasn't on here at all. BUT! I wanted to share with you this awesome story!

My mom, Christina Montanaro hit her hand on the corner of her counter on Sunday - it hurt but she didn't notice the bruise until this morning. When she texted me, I told her to put some Frankincense on it. This is just a FEW hours apart y'all!
