I had the privilege to speak at Tennessee’s TN DDA first inaugural Conference on Aging. It brought together thought leaders and legislators working to instill change for the aging population of Tennessee.
Aging is something happening to all of us. And uniquely, there are challenges for this population - health decline, dementia and disability, financial scams, loneliness and isolation, and more - that require coordination and collaboration among multiple professional groups and organizations.
I was asked to speak about healthy eating and nutrition. What I see over and over again from my patients and community members inside the Healthy After 50 Academy is that most people may know what to do to improve their health, but it takes more than information. It takes direction and support.
One of my missions is to support as many people as possible to reclaim their health with lifestyle change that works. Applying the Mediterranean Code to get ahead of disease, disability and decline.
These are not issues that uniquely affect adults >65. They affect us all. The earlier we start improving the direction of our health, the longer we hold onto our freedom.
