A question get asked frequently…..

What’s the difference between an OT/CLT and an MT/CLT?

Both are Certified Lymphedema Therapists trained in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and lymphedema care — but their backgrounds and treatment approaches are different.

💜OT/CLT (Occupational Therapist + CLT)
Focuses on medical rehabilitation, daily function, recovery after surgery or cancer treatment, compression therapy, and helping patients regain independence.

🤍MT/CLT (Massage Therapist + CLT)
Focuses on hands-on lymphatic massage, scar tissue work, maintenance care, relaxation, and wellness support.

✨ Both play an important role in lymphatic health. The biggest thing that matters is proper CLT certification and choosing the provider that best fits your needs.

April is Head & Neck Cancer Awareness Month 💜

Did you know that lymphedema is a common but often overlooked side effect of head and neck cancer treatment?

When lymph nodes are removed or damaged during surgery or radiation, the lymphatic system can’t drain properly—leading to swelling in the face, neck, or throat.

👉 This swelling may not show up right away—it can develop months or even years later.

✨ Early signs to watch for:
• Swelling in the face or neck
• Tightness or fullness
• Difficulty moving the neck or jaw
• Changes in appearance

The good news? Lymphedema is manageable with the right care.

Have you ever been put on the spot in public… surrounded by strangers… while someone questions your lymphedema or the accommodations you need? 😔

Let’s be clear 💗 there are many kind, thoughtful people in this world who ask questions with genuine curiosity and a desire to understand. That matters. That’s how awareness grows.💗

But every so often, someone without a filter… or without empathy… or honestly, just without basic manners 😬 comes along and confronts you. Loudly. Publicly. Uncomfortably.

• Drawing attention to your need for compression, elevation, or support 🦵💪
• Asking you to explain your condition in front of others 🗣️
• Questioning why you’re using a handicapped parking space 🚗

Here’s the truth: questions may be valid. Delivery matters. Words matter. Tone matters.

There’s a difference between seeking understanding and creating a moment of public humiliation.

A quiet, respectful conversation goes a long way 🤍 because no one should have to justify their medical condition like it’s a public debate.
