A big congratulations to Lindsey on graduating from her midwifery program at Southwest Tech!

We've shared several births together over the past few months, and I have enjoyed watching her skill, confidence, and heart as a birth worker.
I’m excited to celebrate this milestone, and am looking forward to seeing her continue to grow as a midwife in this community.

She’ll be joining Amber with Mindful Birthing - Green Bay LLC and also plans to continue assisting at some upcoming Fox Valley Midwifery births as a second midwife/assistant.

It’s International Day of the Midwife, and look what my daughter surprised me with when I came home after a day of prenatal and postpartum appointments.

Yes, she crochet it herself. I absolutely love it! It’s easily my favorite midwifery gift.

Happy Earth Day from FVM!

Earth Day always feels like a reminder to slow down, and paying attention to the rhythm of the year has always felt grounding and important to me.

For many years while living in Utah, I sang with a group called Solringen. It wasn’t anything fancy - just a circle of women gathering each week to stay connected to the turning of the seasons through music. We marked the year with songs from around the world and celebrated the solstices and holidays together.

I love Wisconsin and the beauty of the seasons here, but I do miss that kind of seasonal community. This photo is from one of those gatherings, and it felt like the right thing to share today. Caring for families through pregnancy and birth keeps me especially aware of how connected we are to these same natural rhythms, and how meaningful it is to notice and honor them together whenever we can. I’m looking forward to the Mom Walk I’m hosting this May Day, and I hope you’ll join me!

Home birth midwifery care is intentionally kept small so each family receives individualized support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Because of this, openings are limited and tend to fill well in advance.

I’m hosting a simple May Day walk for moms and kids to celebrate spring together 🌸

We’ll make little cardboard flower “vases,” share some fresh flowers, and take an easy walk outside to enjoy the season. I’d love to have you join us if it sounds like something your family would enjoy!

I try my damndest to never wait for that red flag. 3 yellow flags and we are transferring. 1 yellow perks me up, 2 yellows have me on guard, 3 yellows, we must go in. Might my transfer rate be a bit higher then others? Maybe. Some years for sure...others not so much. The key (my key) is to listen to my gut (some may call that the Holy Spirit). The end game is mom and baby being safe. Is there trauma? Yes, sometimes, but homebirth is not the be all end all. Hospitals and OBs are there for when we need them and I am grateful.

For most of human history, birth happened at home with skilled midwives supporting the natural process of labor. Today, research continues to show that for healthy, low-risk pregnancies, fewer routine interventions and more continuous, individualized support is linked with improved outcomes for both mothers and babies.

As a licensed home birth midwife new to practicing in Wisconsin, I blend traditional midwifery skills with modern, evidence-based care – using tools like IV therapy, oxygen, and medications when they’re truly needed, while protecting the normal physiology of birth whenever possible.
I recently shared a little about the history of home birth midwifery, how it has evolved, and what modern home birth care looks like today – especially here in our local community.
