Pisces Full Moon 8/30/2023
Myth and Healing Ritual
Pisces is a mutable water sign, ruled by the planet Neptune. The arena is the 12th house, in an Astrological wheel the 12th house is our subconscious, the place we are unable to control. Here we learn to surrender, have faith and trust in the unknown. We are steeped in water, emotional and intuitive. We are returning to our source, it is like a death. In older forms of Astrology it was considered the house of our undoing, a place of sadness. It is also referred to as the house of Karma.

Consider that we may need to be “undone” at times, so we can begin again anew in the sign of Aries. What could it mean to be “undone”; not being cooked enough, where we are raw, wounded or having to face places we made choices which did not serve our greater good. Here we feel out of control. Like diving blind with no idea what will happen but being compelled to do so anyway. This is part of the wheel of life and when we do this we create new space within us which is followed by a re-birth. Like a snake shedding her skin or a Phoenix rising from the ashes.

Individuals with Pisces Moon can be deeply spiritual and committed to whatever form they choose. They may easily fall into a pit of sadness or despair. There is natural access to the “collective unconscious” as defined by Carl Jung. They can be psychic and have trouble with boundaries; distinguishing their own and others. In order to function there can be a need to be highly structured in daily routine.

The opposing Sun sign is Virgo; a mutable earth sign inhabiting the 6th house of health, healing and service. Virgo is the perfectionist, the one often described as being “picky”. One of my Astrology teachers describes Virgo as holding the fabric of the universe together. This sign is often mis-understood. Virgo knows what it takes to make things happen. Someone has to do the often tedious but necessary work.

These signs in opposition employ the needed dynamic of bringing spirit into form. Pisces has the vision, the connection with that which is beyond our human experience. Virgo is deeply embedded in physical reality. As they work together, we see manifestation of spirit into form.

Here is our mythic story; Poseidon meets Vesta

Poseidon, King of the Sea lies in his cavern, amongst treasure chests overflowing with brilliant, multi-faceted jewels & gems. There is great power in these gems, which exist beyond the physical realms. His wisdom is for anyone who wishes to surrender & have faith in a fluid, boundless nature without walls. Way too much to ask of most human’s, Poseidon is well aware that these gems belong to him & rare others. On this Full Moon Poseidon chooses to go on a journey to meet Vesta who he is deeply drawn to. He will travel to Rome to the temple of the Vestal Virgins.
He arrives at the temple and is greeted by Vesta, lead Priestess. Poseidon is their revered guest. He is pleased. As the night goes on he & Vesta speak with each other. She tells him of her deep love for the great mystery of life & the divine peace she has within. Poseidon, living in a sea of constant change does not know much of peace. Instead, he holds the key to surrender & moving with the tides. He understands allowing life to unfold.

She knows how to shape it. Vesta explains how the women work together to help others. How their actions are made sacred through their presence, focus & attention. She talks about how Vestal Virgins feel complete in their relationship to themselves & the great mystery. As they speak, Vesta is aware that Poseidon with his watery nature could easily put out the fire. She must help him understand the importance of keeping it burning.

She invites him into the inner chamber & shows him with her body. Together they meet in a coupling of passion & emotion. His emotional nature fills her, tears run down her cheeks, she cries out. She brings her fiery intensity to take him beyond what he has known before into an ecstatic peace. The power of this union is felt throughout the land.

Vesta gains new trust in the importance of emotion & intuition. Poseidon learns of deep ecstatic peace. This union cannot occur very often, as it is a perilous trip they must make to come together. Their differences have taught each new ways of being. Both enter the great mystery of life but in different ways.

Healing ritual:
Enter the water; this is the night for a ritual bath or hot tub. Under the full moon if possible.
Light as many candles as you can to honor Virgo; Vesta. Do this as you let go and relax into the water. If you like essential oils, put some into the water. Bring rose petals to float on the water if you like.
You are entering a place of complete surrender. Allow water to guide you, relax all your muscles and let go completely. Become aware of sensations in your body. Notice small muscles and what happens when you breathe into them and ask them to release tension. There will likely be tension, this is fine, don’t try to force anything. Notice, lean in to whatever you feel or sense. There is so much to learn about surrender. This is like developing a new muscle. Be a beginner.
When you feel complete with this part:
Look into the flames, asking for guidance with anything you would like to know more about. Imagine you are in the temple of the Vestal Virgins. Here you learn to bring your sacred true soul-guided self into the world. But first know this is an initiation. A place where faith and trust are guiding lights. Little else matters here. Listen, ask, and be guided.
When you are complete, ask for a gift to bring back and put on your altar so you can remember this experience. (of course, this is metaphorical but you can also find something that represents it). Light a candle for the Virgo month ahead which ends on September 22nd..

Aquarius full Moon

Full Moon in Aquarius occurs August 1st 2023

Ode to an Aquarius Moon

Oh Moon, shine bright in my body.
Wake me up.
To find connection beyond mind.
To be open even when surprised.

To honor sudden knowing without doubt.
Let my unique expression be proud.
Make me an open channel.
Bringing watery awareness.

To the light of soul.

In the sign of Aquarius, we have fixed (think consolidated) air. Jointly ruled by Uranus (modern ruler) & Saturn, the ancient or traditional ruler. Often radical, Aquarians are inherently different, with a drive to fit into the culture and be part of change. There is a drive to individuate to connect with a higher vibration, one beyond what most of us know or understand. Channeling this vibration on to Earth is challenging, erratic, intent on breaking up what is hardened, static and still. Within radical individualism comes the knowledge of a collective human consciousness & how water, which is necessary for all of life brings us together. So, we see a Water Bearer as the representative symbol.

Aquarius Moon people are known for being emotionally detached. They can be attached to being radical, different, and at times disassociated. There is a sense (which can be true) that nobody understands them. They are often leaders, isolates or people who work in a field where their ideas are recognized. Technology is Aquarian.

The opposing sun in Leo brings courage and heart. Love is the bridge between our bodies and the high vibration energies that Aquarius Moon is connecting with. We swing from Aquarius to Leo (in polarity) & over time we gain understanding of both perspectives & grow. It is a dance between the good of the one & the good of the whole. It is an elegant dance, one between air & fire.

We discover the more we love ourselves the more we have to give others. And in this case the more we find our inner passion & deep heart longing the more able we are to freely & powerfully express ourselves. The power of our true self-expression gives to others naturally, effortlessly and with great Joy!

Aquarius Full Moon Ritual

Bring a journal or something to make art with.

Find a good place in nature alone or with others
Sitting on the earth would be great but be comfortable and choose what is best for you.
Feel yourself on the ground and bring your attention to where you are sitting or connecting to earth.

Imagine you have a tail growing out of the bottom of your spine and it can travel deep into earth. As it grows your tail moves through earth and rock and you sense the smell of earth and feel coolness. You notice tree roots and you notice other people who have their tails moving into the earth. You begin to feel a connection with all there is.

And you bring that sensation of cool earth up into your body. Into every part of your body, breathe it up, fill yourself with just the amount that you need. When you feel complete notice how your body feels and look up into the light of the moon.

Keep looking into the moon until you feel a connection. Then ask her some questions such as:

What would you have me know about myself at this time?
Am I acting in ways aligned with my highest good?
What in my life needs to change?

Answers often come in surprising ways with this moon so be open to how you listen and receive. Write, do some art, feel any feels that arise. And most important be willing to hear even if it is uncomfortable.

Whatever comes through is in your best interest.

When you feel complete you can share with your companions if you are with anyone.

Give thanks to the moon and all you have learned.

Capricorn Full Moon on 7/3/23; Healing ritual:

Manifesting Heart and Soul Intentions

We are of the Earth and we are compelled to make something of our experience. Capricorn is the sign of manifestation. Capricorn, ruled by Saturn exceeds and excels in dealing with and making something out of the reality of our world. No matter how harsh or challenging it may seem, this sign will find a way to forge ahead, deal with any challenges or obstacles and make things happen.

The polarity of the Cancer Sun comes into play by calling us home to the nurturing Mother within ourselves. The protective loving Mother Bear who will make sure we have what we need for our comfort and safety. Cancer Sun is indirect, side-stepping like a crab but always aware of what needs to occur to assure her safety and to protect her family.

Capricorn is the Father and Cancer the Mother. In polarity we move back and forth from one side to the other. There is deep attraction and interest and so at the time of the Full Moon when they are in exact degree distance from each other we may find balance. Our greatest and most important manifestations are the ones that are the truest to our hearts and souls.

And in order to fully manifest our dreams we find ways to do any healing work which is needed. Our hearts have been broken, we have been betrayed, maybe beaten and abused if not in reality, then metaphorically. We live in a culture where our individuality has been forced to conform and comply with many demands. And it feels like our survival might be at stake if we don’t comply.

Our world and our culture will change as we do. One person, one at a time who has the courage to stand up and say no to what is asked of us makes a huge difference. Under a Capricorn Full Moon, we are offered the opportunity to go deep within our hearts and the soft, vulnerable underbelly of who we are in order to discover what is most important to us.

As we sense inside ouselves we may have feelings needing to be felt, expressed and loved up. This is good, this is what needs to happen to clear and forgive ourselves and each other for how far we have come from the beauty and source of who we truly are. And under this amazing, potent Moon we get clarity.

Ritual: This is best done in a group but works just as well alone.
Each person brings a bowl of water:

Circle; We sit under the Full Moon with bowls of water. Looking at our reflection we focus within and without words sense what is true for us at this time. What do we really want? When the fear voices arise don’t shut them down, instead, listen for a little bit and reassure them that you are safe and that this is very important to do. Just listen and ask questions;

What is most important to me?
What is my purpose here at this time?
What is my own unique personal vision?
What steps need to be taken next to assure this manifestation?

Next each participant takes a turn with all others in the circle focused with strong clear attention on that person. Do not interrupt the person but open your hearts and minds to what they are communicating. Do not react or even share your own thoughts. This is only about the person who is sharing at the time and nobody else. And if you do wish to say something to the individual hold it until after the ritual is over. Each participant will have a turn.

The person expressing themselves can take as long as they need or want to feel complete without interruption. When it is your turn take this opportunity to speak what is important to you from your heart. This Moon is asking us to be true to ourselves and with each word we craft our lives more and more clearly. We are setting intentions.

As we speak our intentions enter the water. We are honored by our circle of friends and this love and intention enters the water. Next, we turn our attention to the Full Moon. Each participant now works to bring the energy of the Full Moon into the water in their bowl.
Everyone can do this at the same time. And it is best to do it privately.

Reach your arms up to the Moon and breathe in Moon energy. Take as many deep breaths as
You need or want in order to really feel the Moon. You are creating relationship with the Moon and the Moon may speak to you in her own way. When you feel it is time take your hands and point them down to the bowl of water and charge the water with the Moon energy you have collected.

Do this repeatedly until you feel complete.

Then we pick up our bowls and together we put our faces into the water in order to seal our intentions and give them our own physical vibration.

Save this water, use it to clean any crystals, use it to anoint yourself. Put it into a bottle and drink a few drops of it (if you haven’t put anything into the water that would make this not be OK.

Open your circle!

For many when you talk about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder minds will go to people who fought wars. But really PTSD is so much more prevalent than we knew. Trauma occurs in so many ways, in childhood it is now being referred to as CPTSD. R**e, Domestic Violence, physical and mental abuse, ritual abuse are common occurrences in our culture.

Many of us will keep working on ourselves but find that it may not be as effective as we had wished. Trauma can effect our brains, impacting our lives in major ways. Because of this it is important to identify ourselves as people with PTSD. PTSD can be addressed in different ways, and may take very different healing paths.

Lets stop pretending and be pro-active. Be proud, proclaim your truth. Stop hiding.

Soul is More than a Kind of Music!

Back in the 60’s I was a part of the Hippie movement in San Francisco. Many of us used mind-altering hallucinogenic drugs to assist in seeing life with new perspective. During one of those experience on L*D I watched energy move through a plant. Literally I could see how life energy moved through a leaf. Read more... https://lilithrises.com/blog/234499
