It’s noon. You eat lunch. “The macros can’t be too bad in this sandwich!” You finally get around to logging your meals. & suddenly…. OMFG 😱 - you have no carbs or fats left, your protein is still too low, & your almost out of calories 🤣😅 SOUND FAMILIAR?!
It’s easy to go into “f*ck it!” Mode when this happens & then just derail your entire day. A lot of clients talk about this mindset of “I already ruined today, so now it doesn’t matter what I do…”
NOT TRUE!🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️
the best option is to simply get back on track with the next meal or food choice, and try to work with what ya got! 💁🏻♀️
If your calories or macros are off for a day, it’s not a big deal. The best thing you can do is think of the BIGGER picture - one day with above average macros/calories shouldn’t ruin your progress in the longterm if you are AVERAGING your goal macronutrients. So 1 day out of 30 days with an above average intake is FINE.
The overall lesson is simply DONT SWEAT IT ✅
You don’t need to try to “overcorrect it” or restrict yourself for the remainder of the day. Just learn from it & move on! 🚶♀️
But what if you have a string of days that you’re over? 🤔
This is when you’ll need to do some reflecting & reconsider your approach.
TWO TIPS TO AVOID THIS:
1. Front load protein. (See previous post). Getting in your protein early in the day will curb cravings, help with satiation, & keep you fuller for longer. 💪 swap any high-carb or fatty breakfast items for 30g of protein.
2. Pre-plan your meals - usually, we get off track when we start trying to wing it and work it as we go 😉 plan your day ahead & have a general goal of how you would LIKE the day to go, and do your best to stick to that.
Lastly….
If you find yourself on a situation where you’re using up carbs & fats quick 👉🏻 focus on lean protein, vegetables, & fruit.
