You are more than a list of symptoms.

You are a whole person with a story, experiences, strengths, goals, and a life that exists beyond what shows up on a medical chart.

If you could tell a provider five things about yourself that matter just as much as your symptoms, what would they be?

I’ll go first:

I’m a mom.
I love sunshine on my face in the morning.
I believe healing is personal.
My dogs are family.
Fresh air and a quiet moment can change my whole day. ☀️💚

Testing has limitations, especially early in infection or in more chronic and complex cases. Lyme disease is ultimately a clinical diagnosis that should consider symptoms, history, exposure risk, and the full picture — not just one lab result.

Keep asking questions. Your symptoms deserve to be taken seriously. 🌿

As Lyme Disease Awareness Month comes to a close, I just wanted to say thank you for being here. 💚

I hope this month helped more people learn, ask questions, find connections, and discover organizations, resources, and voices to continue following beyond May.

Because the reality is… Lyme disease does not only exist for one month out of the year. For many people, it is chronic, life-changing, and something navigated year-round.

I’ll continue sharing education, awareness, research, prevention, and conversations around Lyme disease and chronic illness here on this page long after May ends.

If you’ve found this content helpful, feel free to like, follow, and share. And if you create Lyme-related content too, send me a DM and introduce yourself — I’m always happy to connect and support others helping spread awareness. 💚

Tick season is here — and not all repellents are created equal. 🕷️🌿

For lower-risk exposures, I often use more natural cedarwood + peppermint oil–based sprays. These can be a great option for shorter outdoor exposure, children, and pets (when appropriately approved), but they usually need to be reapplied more often.

If I need a higher level of protection, I personally use picaridin (typically 20%+). It tends to be less irritating to the skin than some other chemical repellents and can last 8–12 hours depending on the product.

For heavier tick habitats, deep woods, or hiking trails, I may use DEET-based products because they are highly effective deterrents — though they are a stronger chemical option.

And don’t forget permethrin 👟⛺️
This is ONLY sprayed on clothing, shoes, or camping gear — never directly on skin. I personally treat my shoes a few times a year and have found it very helpful for reducing tick bites.

No repellent is perfect, so always remember:
✔️ Tick checks
✔️ Protective clothing
✔️ Showering after exposure
✔️ Early symptom awareness
