This past weekend, members of our Bull Hawks Boccia team competed at the GLASA Great Lakes Games in Partnership with The Hartford, a premier multi-day competition that brings together developmental through elite Paralympic athletes from across the region.

We are proud to congratulate Colleen Musselman on earning 1st Place and Justin Hillman on taking 2nd Place in their respective Boccia divisions! 🎉

The excitement doesn't stop there—next week, Colleen and Justin will represent Team USA at the 2026 World Boccia Challenger in Birmingham, Alabama (June 16–23), competing against some of the world's top Boccia athletes.

Congratulations to Colleen, Justin, and all of our Bull Hawks athletes for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding representation of LWSRA. We wish Team USA the best of luck next week!

🍿✨ Double Good Days at Kohl Children’s Museum was a popping success! ✨🍿

On Sunday, we had an amazing time meeting so many new friends while sharing the fun of adaptive recreation. Coach Mak spent the afternoon teaching and playing wheelchair basketball and leading games like Sharks and Minnows.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to play, learn, and connect with us. We loved spending the day with you and can't wait to see some of our new friends again soon!

☀️ Week 1 of Summer Day Camp is in the books, and what a way to kick off the season!

Our campers have been on the move, making memories all across the community and beyond. From cooling off at local splash pads and exploring parks throughout our member districts to discovering new stories at local libraries, every day brought a new adventure.

The fun didn't stop there! Campers also took a trip to the Haunted Trails in Joliet and spent a day visiting the zoo, making new friends and creating unforgettable summer memories along the way.

We're off to an amazing start and can't wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store!

🎥 Last Thursday, LWSRA's PE Takeover was featured on CBS Chicago!

CBS Chicago visited Edgar Allan Poe Elementary Classical School in Pullman as students participated in a PE Takeover featuring goalball, a sport designed for athletes with visual impairments. Through the game, students learned valuable lessons about compassion, inclusion, and the power of adaptive sports.

A special congratulations goes to our very own Athletics Supervisor, Mak Nong, who was interviewed for the segment! Thank you, Mak, for your dedication and hard work over the past year helping grow our PE Takeover program and bringing adaptive sports experiences to schools throughout our communities.

Some Chicago Public Schools students on Thursday got to see firsthand how a person with a disability experiences everyday life through adaptive sports.

⛳️ A Hole-in-One Kind of Day! 🎤

On Sunday, May 31, participants headed to Topgolf in Naperville for an afternoon of fun, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs. Everyone enjoyed two hours of golf simulator games, followed by a lunch of sandwiches, chips, and cookies.

With perfect weather and great company, the day was already a success—but the real highlight may have been the karaoke-filled ride home, where participants sang along to some of their favorite songs. From great swings to great tunes, this outing was one to remember! 🎶
