If you've been following our story you know that this opportunity would not exist without Dr. Laborde. Not only did he coordinate obtaining this ambulance 🚑 for us to pack full of supplies but he also flew ✈️ to Haiti during this pandemic to receive the ambulance and make sure it made it to its final destination 🇭🇹

The post below documents Dr. Laborde officially handing over the ambulance to the Mayor!

When the travel bans went up we were crushed to hear that we could not go to Haiti as originally planned. Not only were we missing an excellent learning opportunity and a chance to contribute to the health of a community, but the supplies we had fundraised for were stuck in the US with us ☹️ after MONTHS of hard work by our mentor, Dr Laborde, he was finally able to coordinate the safe passage of this beautiful ambulance 🚑 packed with PPE 🧤
While we won’t be traveling with it as stowaways (we asked) we are finally able to see over a year’s worth of work pay off and help those in need, which was always our primary goal 🇭🇹

In light of March Madness being cancelled due to COVID19 we are cancelling this fundraising event. We will contact donors who purchased a bracket for reimbursement, however, if you still would like to donate to our all funds will still be put towards medical supplies for Haiti. You may message us with any questions.

There are other Ochsner urgent care centers that will still see patients needing medical care.

We would like to announce that for our next fundraiser we will be hosting a March Madness pool! With Each $10 donation you can enter your bracket for the chance to win 25% of the pot! The remaining 75% goes directly toward medical supplies for Haiti. It is extremely easy to enter! Just Venmo $10 to -Haiti and leave your email as the comment! We will contact you with the password and entry instructions. Raise the stakes by inviting your friends to play with you! Good Luck!

Thank you to everyone for your support. We still have a ways to go to reach our goal. Share some love with us by making a donation (link in bio) to our GoFundMe ♥️

Every little bit helps. Every dollar raised goes directly toward medical supplies for Haiti, not only for the duration of our trip at the end of March but for the rest of the year! As always, thank you for your continued support.

On this day in 2010, a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake struck Haiti, killing an estimated 200,000 Haitians and affecting the lives of more than 3,000,000 people. The earthquake and the subsequent aftershocks destroyed nearly 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial buildings. Haiti and its people continue to feel the effects of the tragedy to this day -- economically, infrastructurally and emotionally.

Below is a video breaking down how humanitarian organizations implement a disaster response.
