Today is World Mental Health Day.

Taking care of your mental health doesn't require a crisis.

Sometimes care looks like asking for help when everything feels too heavy. Sometimes it's talking through something you've carried for a long time. Sometimes it's learning new ways to cope, managing medication, building skills, or simply saying, “I'm not doing okay, and I'd like some support.”

We’re hiring: Dental Practice Manager!

CrescentCare is looking for an experienced dental professional and people leader to help guide the daily operations, growth, and success of our Dental Program.

This full-time leadership position works in our Dental Clinic at our St. Roch Clinic located at 1631 Elysian Fields Ave. The Dental Practice Manager partners closely with dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, billing staff, and organizational leadership to support strong teams, smooth operations, and an excellent patient experience.

We’re looking for someone with significant dental practice experience who knows how to lead people, solve problems, improve processes, and keep both the team and the patients at the center of the work.

Mental health care doesn’t have to be spooky.

Reaching out for mental health support can feel intimidating, especially when you don’t know what to expect.

You don’t need a perfectly prepared explanation. You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong. And you don’t need to have everything figured out before you ask for help.

Your first appointment is a chance to talk about what you’ve been experiencing, what matters to you, and what kind of support you may need. A mental health professional will listen, ask questions, and work with you to figure out what comes next. That might include therapy or other services and support based on what you want and need.

No perfect words required. Just a place to start.

Because asking for support shouldn’t be the scariest part.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast health is part of your whole health.

Knowing your body, understanding your personal risk, and talking with your healthcare provider about screening are all important parts of taking care of yourself.

There isn't one screening plan that's right for everyone. Your age, health history, family history, and individual risk can all play a role in deciding what care is right for you.

You don't have to figure that out alone.

Talk with your CrescentCare provider about your breast health, your risk factors, and whether it's time for screening. When a mammogram or other services are needed, we can help connect you with appropriate care.

Our commitment to accessible HIV testing has not changed.

CrescentCare is disappointed to learn that our HIV testing services will no longer be permitted at Wood Enterprises locations. For decades, our partnership has enabled testing at these community sites as part of our commitment to making HIV testing accessible where people live, gather, and connect.

Community testing partnerships take significant planning. Our team works with host locations to gain permission, confirm access, availability, procedures, and logistics before providing services. Given our longstanding relationship, this decision was unexpected and disappointing.

But the most important thing we want our community to know is this:

We are still here. We are still testing and providing medical care and treatment. And we are still doing the work.

Access to HIV and STI testing, prevention, treatment, and care has real, positive health outcomes for the communities we serve and care for deeply. We remain open to conversations with Wood Enterprises about reestablishing this partnership and restoring this longstanding community resource.

We are also incredibly grateful for the community members and organizations who have reached out in support, including The Phoenix Bar, which has offered its support as we continue this work. We are always open to partnering with additional organizations. If you are interested in hosting a testing event, please reach out to us to coordinate!

Every Thursday afternoon in October from 1–4 PM, Rosalyn Mariano, Enrollment & Benefit Specialist with the New Orleans Health Department, will be at CrescentCare providing application assistance.

As Sexual Health Month comes to a close, we want to leave you with one reminder: caring for your sexual health is part of caring for your whole self.

It’s knowing your body and having the information you need to make choices about it. It’s testing and prevention. Reproductive care. Communication and consent. Pleasure, connection, boundaries, and knowing when something doesn’t feel right.

And none of it should come with shame.

Your body deserves care. Your questions deserve answers. Your boundaries deserve respect. And the choices you make about your health should be met with information, support, and compassion.

Sexual Health Month may be ending, but taking care of yourself doesn’t.
