The monkeypox outbreak is concerning. Contact tracng in various countries has not found a link. UK, France, US, Spain and the WHO are baffled by this.

President Joe Biden said in South Korea the new monkeypox virus should concern "everybody," as health officials still do not have answers for the outbreak.

An Omicron subvariant is racing across many countries in Europe. This new variant is 1.5 times more contagious than the original Omicron variant. This is already in the US although most prevalent in the Northeast, New York and New Jersey. The CDC is awaiting more of a spread across the USA. Masks may be coming back sooner than we think.

Cases of COVID-19 are surging in several European countries because of the BA.2 Omicron subvariant, and US experts are keeping their masks on.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has canceled the public mask mandate in NY starting tomorrow February 10th. Those vaccinated no longer need to wear a mask in public except for in the city and in schools. The mandate still holds in the school system.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced the end of the indoor mask mandate in New York State effective Thursday, but the mandate will remain in place for schools until it is reassessed in the first week of March.

So when does this all end? Pfizer will have a new Omicron specific vaccine ready by the end of March or 100 days. It does seem that the current vaccine does not work so well, even with the booster, to not infect people with Omicron. It seems anyone who was vaccinated is still contracting the disease although symptoms may be less frightening. Still hospitalizations are up. Could it be a new vaccine will be needed for every strain as we already have with the flu? That may be the only way to co-exist with the virus which seems to be the only way to move forward.

Pfizer is confident it can deliver a vaccine that specifically targets omicron by March.

A new strain of Covid-19 has been found on Cyprus with over 25 people infected. Doctors have discovered a fusion of the Delta and Omicron variants. It is being called Deltacron. With Delta now only 5% of cases worldwide, doctors are not sure that this new variant has the strength to overtake Omicron.

A new strain of the coronavirus appears to be a genetic fusion of currently known omicron and delta variants, a researcher claims.
