Today, marks the start of National Nurses Week, May 6-12, a time to honor nurses and show appreciation for their vital role in health care. Nursing, in general, can be stressful and COVID-19 only amplifies that. So, it’s even more critical to reach out and celebrate the nurses around us and in our communities!
Across the country, younger nurses are introducing greater racial diversity into the workforce, specifically amongst Registered Nurses (RNs). Nurses between the ages of 19 and 49 comprise 47% of all RNs but account for 49% of RNs who are Black/African American and more than 60% of RNs who are multiracial, Asian, Native Hawaiian, or Other Pacific Islander.
