Today I completed another Walk Away the Pounds session and was reminded that small steps really do add up. After losing over 100 pounds following gastric bypass surgery, I’ve learned that consistency beats perfection every time.

This morning while walking Waffles, I came across two deceased kittens in two different locations. It was one of those moments that made me stop and think.

Whether you view things spiritually, symbolically, or simply as part of life’s natural cycles, it reminded me how fragile life can be and how important it is to appreciate each day we’re given.

Some people believe cats represent intuition, independence, and new beginnings. Seeing two kittens made me reflect on transitions, growth, and letting go of what no longer serves us.

No fear. No bad omens. Just a reminder to stay present, trust the journey, and love a little deeper.

Meanwhile, Waffles was completely unbothered and focused on sniffing every blade of grass. 🐾💜

🌙 Night shift reflections…

While my patient slept peacefully through most of the night, I found a little time for self-care and creativity. 🎨✨

This coloring page caught my attention:

“That monster could be anyone.”

Sometimes the monsters we face aren’t people at all. They can be fear, stress, self-doubt, uncertainty, exhaustion, or the things we’re waiting to hear from a doctor.

Today, after a long shift, I have a breast MRI scheduled as part of my health journey. I’m choosing faith over fear, rest over worry, and gratitude over anxiety. 💗

For now, I’m finishing my coffee, putting away my coloring pens, and reminding myself that one step at a time is enough.

Here’s to healing, hope, and a little creativity at 5:30 in the morning. ☕🎨💕

Dark skin. Bright blonde hair. And not a drop of European blood behind it.

For years the whole world assumed these kids got their blonde hair from European visitors. Even scientists believed it, until one researcher saw a photo of a blonde Melanesian child and refused to accept the easy answer.

In 2012, a study in Science magazine proved everyone wrong. Their blonde comes from a gene mutation that is completely their own, found nowhere else on the planet. It didn't come from Europe. It was born right there in the Pacific.

It shows up in about 1 in 4 people on the islands and exists in no other population on Earth.

Two parts of the world. Same color. Two completely separate paths, both written by nature.

Some beauty isn't inherited from anyone. It's created from scratch.
