As I look to nature for guidance in these times, I remind myself that chasing perfection in parenting, professionally and physically is not all that it’s hyped up to be. In fact the pursuit of perfection itself is overrated and ultimately unachievable.

First, nature is constantly going through trial and error. As long as you show curiosity and take a few risks, you will find what works and you will grow.

Second, nature transforms to benefit the system, to find functionality. It is not rigid, it doesn’t fit one form continually; when the context changes, the snow melts and finds its way winding through streams and rivers to the pull of the sea.

We would be wise to learn from nature and apply it to our personal care. Let go of perfection, embrace natural movements in your skin and hair. Adapt to the seasons and age, take care of it, don’t try to fix it.

Be natural. Be restful. Be beautiful.
