This is a non event, AND it's an event we will be attending & hope you do too!! Cuz part of community care/self care is learning/unlearning what we can - especially when it comes to racism, 4 all, but especially white/white passing folks

This in person 2 day workshop is designed to train participants at all levels of racial equity development to engage in learning and action around issues of race and racism. The initial training will build capacity at a micro level, the intent is to create a cadre of leaders to institutionalize a foundation of racial equity & social justice throughout the organization, its constituents, & the community.

As an organizing collective, ECN teaches how racism/racist ideology was present well before the formation of the United States and how it continues to operate today. They provide a basis for taking action. Various training & development models are used to provide insight, structure, & relevance that enable participants to identify and understand defined implications around varying perceptions that may exist in the organization and/or community.
 
The methods will:
• be grounded in a conceptual analysis of racial & ethnic oppression using history as the foundation of creating a framework for understanding race & racism and racialized outcomes.
• be rooted in understanding issues of oppression & how racism manifests within individuals' personal & institutional oppression
• use a "Disinvestment" & “Gatekeeper” model to understand the power (given by institutions) participants have over oppressed groups & communities.
• providing language, definitions & conceptual framework for understanding of the mutually beneficial relationship that exist between colonialism, capitalism & racism to create and maintain the racial hierarchy.
• support the need to acquire data & use it as a means to move from individual to institutional understanding of racial & social inequities

Amores, we have decided to cancel this round of Pencils Down, Feet Up! (PDFU) on Friday, January 23rd. Read more below:

Many educators across the nation have felt disempowered and burnt out generally by the current administration, and by the current attacks on our immigrant students and community members. On January 14th it was decided by the UFT Delegate Assembly that January 23rd be a day of action in solidarity with the people of Minnesota to fight the unlawful and horrific actions taken by I.C.E. against unionists, teachers, students, and community members.

At Cuidate Collective, we understand that actions are a part of collective care, the driving force behind what we do, and a vital piece of our community members lives. We find it important that everyone has the opportunity to attend the UFT demonstration rather than feeling one has to choose between collective care, and “self” care - as they are intrinsically connected. There will always be opportunities for other events, but we strongly believe that we cannot let this moment pass by without showing up & taking action with and for our fellow educators and community members.

From Burnout to Lighting the Way! Come thru to .loft January 23rd for Pencils Down, Feet Up! This winter we will explore our journeys with burnout (IYKYK), and share knowledge with one another about how we continue to light the way, and prevent burn out - for ourselves, our communities, those who depend on our ability to remain energized, enraged, and hopeful. ⛓️Link in bio for sliding scale tickets $0-$80 💜

Pencils Down Feet Up, is a Collective Restoration & Wellness Event Series organized by Cuidate Collective & friends! It is created by, and for educators, healers, mental health providers, specifically our BIPOC & LGBTQAI+ folks that are working towards our collective liberation.

In this event we will get in touch with our heat, our vitality, our tonali, a practice that many of our ancestors believed in accessing in various ways; for when we felt cold, our lights were more easily burnt out.
Join us for a powerfully curated night of energizing & reflective holistic healing.

Get ready to put your pencils down and kick your feet up as we dive into various hands-on activities, unwind together, and come away with strategies and connections that can light the way for us too, because we cannot/should not do this alone!

Do you know other healers, educators/activists that would enjoy something like this? Have them come thru!

Tickets are sliding scale from FREE to $80 (or more!) based on your socioeconomic situation, and ability to contribute for the energy exchange of the healers who make up this beautiful event.

Dear Collective 💜 We’re hosting a new event, and we’d love to see you there!

Join us this Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Lunita Loft in Park Slope, Brooklyn - to learn about coffee’s African roots and its largely erased colonial history with a relaxed coffee tasting and discussion lead by Seb (former Director of Education for Devoción USA) and tunes by Mario (a life-long barista).

In times of difficulty, coming together over a cup of coffee with like minded people can be a healing experience. For many of our communities, coffee or tea gatherings are an important piece of our connection and become even more healing when we can make a positive impact with ethical consumption choices.

We are already in bed 7PM, and that's ok ♡♡♡♡

So I can have the energy to support my students, community - and myself, Eeespecially during colder, months with less sunlight, aAaAnd when I'm bleeding, it werks for me to be in bed sooner - in line with the rhythm of nature
I wasn't always this way, I didn't think of rest as an option, nor did I always have it as an option. I used to try and push through, and sometimes that is necessary, but not always - I learned from very wise mentors, and people I admire so much that following nature's rhythm is one way we can enact indigenous values in a capitalist environment - when we can, if we can
