We don't want to know.

We are afraid to look at our drinking, at least I was.

We worry:
What does it say about me if I need to look at my drinking?
Does this mean I have a “problem”?
What would I tell my friends?

I understand how you feel, I felt the same way. I didn’t want to look at my drinking, I wanted to ignore it and hope it would just resolve itself.

But it won’t.

What if it doesn’t mean anything about you?
What if it isn’t a “problem”?
What if your friends don’t care or join you in changing their drinking too?

What if? That is the magic.
You get to call the shots- when you just get curious.

You can do that in the privacy of your own home with my Skip the Sip guide.

Get curious, start to understand your habit, make a different choice.

One experiment. Not forever. One night.

Two glasses meant I was “good”, normal, worthy.

Drinking more than that meant I was "bad”, not normal, not worthy. That was the whole equation running my life, and I never once wrote it down or said it out loud. It was just there, quietly deciding how I felt about myself depending on how the night went.

It was exhausting. And the shame of being "bad"? It just makes you try harder to stay under the line next time. So, I dug in. I counted glasses. I beat myself up on the mornings I over drank instead of ever asking why two glasses got to decide my worth in the first place!

Do you judge yourself as "good" or "bad" based on if you drank or didn't drink? This thought process will keep you stuck and fighting a losing battle .

For over a decade I ran my whole self worth on one rule: two glasses of wine. Stick to two, I was good. Normal. Worthy.

Go over it, three glasses, felt hungover the next morning, and it wasn't just "I had too much." it was "something is wrong with me." Bad. Not normal. I still don't totally know how a third glass of wine turned into a verdict on my whole character but that's where I landed, every single time.

What if the biggest gift of quitting drinking isn't better sleep, more energy, or fewer hangovers?

What if it's about getting your future back?

Many women perceive alcohol-free living as a loss, but our guest on the Sober & Lit Podcast, Lorna Wilson, believes it's an opportunity to discover a life you never imagined.

In episode 135 we explore how Lorna's journey to sobriety transformed her life, offering insights into the reinvention that comes from quitting alcohol and the new paths that open up when you embrace an alcohol-free lifestyle and are able to listen to our inner voice!

If you’re questioning whether your best years are behind you, or if real change is possible after 50, I encourage you to listen to our conversation. Here are 3 key takeaways:

👉Your Inner Critic Is Not Your Truth: We explored how the loudest, harshest voices inside often hold us back, but you can begin rewriting those scripts—no matter how long they’ve been running.
👉Midlife Is a Beginning, Not an End: Lorna Wilson shared her own journey to becoming an alcohol-free coach at age 50+, proving that passion and purpose can be reignited at any stage.
👉Play Big—Start Small: Reinvention doesn’t have to mean a total career change. Sometimes, listening to your “inner knowing” and taking one small step—journaling, having a brave conversation, or pursuing an old dream—can ignite incredible momentum.

If you’ve ever felt “too old” or wondered “what’s next?” this episode might be just the spark you need. It’s never too late to feel lit—inside and out.

Here's the question I keep coming back to:

Are we really okay with drinking our life away? The years that slip by numbed instead of felt.

Boredom is a reason many people give for giving in and drinking. I know I would drink when I felt this way, when I didn’t quite know what to do with myself, I wanted something, but I couldn’t figure out what. It is uncomfortable, and that is most likely why we drink, to numb that discomfort.

What if we just let ourselves be bored instead? Wandered around, felt restless, a little anxious, a little undone... will we die? Nope. 😅

That discomfort you're avoiding is exactly where the freedom is waiting on the other side. 🤍

Gray area drinking isn't another label to slap on yourself.

I know that sounds strange coming from someone who talks about "gray area drinking" for a living. But hear me out.

You don't need a new identity. You don't need to raise your hand and say "that's me" and carry around one more thing that defines you. You've probably spent years collecting labels that were supposed to explain you:

the overachiever
the people pleaser
the one who has it all together.

Gray area drinking isn't meant to be another one.

It's not an identity. It's a description of a pattern. A way of naming something so you can actually look at it, instead of it just running quietly in the background of your life.

You're not "a gray area drinker." You're a woman who's been using alcohol to cope with something, and you're allowed to look at that without becoming a new kind of person because of it.

The label isn't the point. What you do with the noticing is the point.
