Metastatic breast cancer (MBC) remains incurable—but research is changing what’s possible.

As the world’s largest private funder of MBC research, BCRF is investing in the science needed to understand how and why breast cancer spreads. Researchers are also working to develop new treatments and ultimately prevent metastasis.

This year, BCRF is investing $23.8 million across 102 projects focused on metastatic breast cancer.

The FDA recently approved a maintenance treatment combination for people with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer.

The news comes after results from the HER2CLIMB-05 trial, of which BCRF researcher Dr. Nancy U. Lin was a lead investigator. While more research is needed to understand its impact on overall survival, these findings represent progress.

As the world’s largest private funder of metastatic breast cancer research, BCRF supports discoveries that bring us closer to better outcomes and a world free from breast cancer.

For Patricia Robinson, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is personal.

After her breast cancer diagnosis, Patricia found hope in knowing that research is working to better understand breast cancer disparities and improve outcomes for Black women.

Through BCRF’s Health Equity Initiative, researchers are working to uncover answers—and create a future where every woman has a better chance at surviving breast cancer.

For Debbie LaMotta, supporting breast cancer research is deeply personal.

Diagnosed while raising three young children, Debbie found strength through her family's support—and today, she’s grateful for the 11 years since her diagnosis.

Since 2021, Debbie and her DOWC colleagues have fundraised for BCRF through raffles, bake sales, merchandise, and team events, raising more than $60,000 for breast cancer research.

“I believe research is the only way we can ultimately abolish this disease completely,” Debbie says.

We’re incredibly grateful to her and the entire DOWC team for turning a personal journey into a commitment to advancing research.
