🩺 RAAS System (Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System)

The RAAS system is the body's built-in mechanism for regulating blood pressure, fluid balance, and electrolyte levels.

πŸ”Ή Low blood pressure, low blood volume, or reduced kidney blood flow triggers the release of renin.
πŸ”Ή Renin converts angiotensinogen into angiotensin I.
πŸ”Ή ACE (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme) converts angiotensin I into angiotensin II.
πŸ”Ή Angiotensin II causes blood vessels to constrict, increasing blood pressure.
πŸ”Ή It also stimulates the release of aldosterone from the adrenal glands.
πŸ”Ή Aldosterone promotes sodium and water retention by the kidneys, further increasing blood volume and blood pressure.

πŸ“Œ Key Function:
Maintain adequate blood pressure and ensure proper organ perfusion.
