BlazeSports NY is generously supported by the NYS Elks. Physical activity is critical to the health and well-being of people with disabilities. Studies show that less than 50% of people with disabilities get enough physical activity. Increased physical activity can lower risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other serious health conditions. A 2005 study by the U. Department of Labor found t

hat 87% of men with disabilities between the ages of 16 and 64 were unemployed, but when they became involved in sports that number dropped to 57%.

BlazeSports America’s mission is to change the lives of children and adults with physical disabilities through sport.

Did you know??

There are 21 million Americans with physical disabilities. However, less than 10 percent of them participate in daily physical activity. In-accessible facilities and lack of opportunities are two main reasons for this. Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State strongly supports the expressed interests of people with disabilities who want to participate in sports programs. Sports programs provide opportunities for inclusion and socialization, foster character development, productive and healthy lifestyles and self-sufficiency.
