University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball coach Alyson Habetz was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer, and she's determined to continue working through treatment.

"I want [the team] to know that I'm not going to be any different. Sure, there might be times when I might only be 70%, but they're going to get 100% of my 70%."

What began as a website and a modest library of publications has grown into the leading national organization focused on work and cancer. Twenty-five years and several evolutions later, our mission remains exactly what it was on day one, just on a bigger scale.

Fun Fact: Cancer and Careers is 25!

It all started in 2001 when Cancer and Careers was launched to address a critical gap in the survivorship conversation—how to think about and manage work in light of a diagnosis.

Our first publication came out in 2002, since then our library has grown to 23 publications in English and Spanish and we’ve distributed more than a million—always free of charge.

We’re going to have some fun over the coming months looking back as we look ahead. We’d love to hear when you first encountered CAC!

NBC 4 New York's Pat Battle announced in early January that she was stepping away from "Weekend Today in New York" to focus on treatment for triple negative breast cancer. In a recent interview, Battle shared, "I wasn't even going to take off of work. I thought I'd get a wig, some makeup, a couple of vomit bags, and I'll be okay, you know. And keep doing the show."
