Hey sis — your Word of the Week is witness.
And before you scroll past thinking this is about church — stay with me for a second. 😄
Witness (verb): to see clearly. To observe without judgment. To be present for what is actually happening — instead of rushing past it, explaining it away, or telling yourself ”I’m fine” with your eye twitching.
Here’s the thing, love.
Most of us have never actually witnessed ourselves.
We’ve criticized ourselves. Analyzed ourselves. Pushed ourselves. Compared ourselves. Performed for everybody else.
But witnessed? Sat with? Seen without shame?
Honey. That’s a whole new practice.
And I’m not talking about anything complicated. I’m talking about the moment you catch yourself — in the middle of the group chat, in the school pickup line, at 11pm doing everybody else’s mental load — and instead of pushing through, you pause long enough to ask:
Wait. How am I actually doing right now?
That pause? That IS witnessing.
Not fixing. Not explaining. Not justifying.
Just... seeing.
She’s been there the whole time, sis. She just needed you to stop long enough to notice her.
This week, try it once. Just once.
Before you say “I’m fine,” witness yourself first.
This is what devotion looks like, sis.
