📢 Important Announcement: Changes to Our Telegram Community 🚫

Dear Cysters

I wanted to take a moment to address an important update regarding our Telegram group “ PCOS Club India Tribe”
Due to the increasing volume of spam and unwanted content in our Telegram community, I have decided to close the group. I value the quality interactions and meaningful discussions that our community stands for, and unfortunately, the influx of spams has been detracting from this experience.
Due to technical reasons I cannot officially close or delete the group. So I request you to all to please leave the group to avoid any further spams
While the Telegram group is closing, I encourage you to stay connected with me through my other social media channels ( Instagram, YouTube , my podcast) where I will continue to share valuable content, updates, and connect with you.
My Instagram page will remain a hub for our pcos related discussions. I appreciate your understanding and ongoing support as I work to maintain the integrity of our online community.
Thank you for being a part of PCOS club journey, and I look forward to continuing to engage with you.

More of PCOS content coming soon! Until then , stay stronger than PCOS

Hugs

Announcement 📣!

Hello PCI Fam ! I’m Nidhi , the face behind this beautiful community. I started this page in 2019 , 7 years after I was diagnosed with PCOS and to share real insights, learnings from my own struggle with PCOS with a sole aim that no one has to go through what I had to ! Right from evidence based content , finding trusted doctors , to options available for pcos treatments !
Finding the best ways to help this community has been always my top most priority!
In this journey , there have been various ways that we at pcosclubindia provided support , one such service was the pcos shop a pcos marketplace that Cysters can buy trusted products ! Over the time of running pcos shop for over a year , I have realised the bias that can come of providing these recommendations or resources and this doesn’t fit really well with my vision of keeping this space free of bias.
I understand how talking about a brand or a product can really affect our health and I am one of you myself ! Hence after a careful consideration I have taken a decision to discontinue the pcos shop!
I will keep the recommendations coming to you via my posts, my Youtube videos. And even if I do paid partnerships will make sure to apprise you that it’s an ad and whether I have used it myself or not.
Tell me in the comments what recommendations and content you’d like me to post and what content you have really benefited from this page !

P.S- sharing a few pics on carousel of our work at over the last 4 years - includes snippets from pcos summit, run for pcos , .project sessions, few of hundreds of Cyster we have coached (swipe to see. )! We are and let no one tell you otherwise!

These are a few tips I would look for before choosing an Inositol supplement . Having worked on pcos and my conversations through many leading manufacturers , doctors
I understand that inositol comes in various grades of purity. You might find low grade quality at very cheap prices or a good quality Inositols produced by a reputable brand at decent price.
The unfortunate part is that none of the brands tell you what purity grade they are using, and some countries there are not even 3rd party quality checks done. Nonethless, hope your find these reccos helpful. Do check out my detailed inositol guide under guide section of my page

1. Purity:
- [ ] Look for a product that is pure inositol, without any added fillers, or artificial ingredients sweeteners , preservatives . Some ingredients commonly added include: added to improve the taste and appearance of the supplement, but they can be toxic.
- [ ] Aaspartame, Maltodextrin or Preservatives like sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate which have been associated with a range of health problems, including gut issues, allergies, headaches, migraines, and neurological problems.

2. Dosage: Inositol supplements come in different dosages, the research has shown 40:1 ratio of myo inositol to d Chiro inositol works great , but this can vary from person to person and depends on your health goals as well such as losing weight, or trying to conceive. Also research shows that 4gm of myo inositol is ideal . If you are a lean pcos case you might want to stick with just myo inositol and avoid d chiro

3.Brand reputation: Choose a reputable brand that follows good manufacturing practices and has a proven track record of producing high-quality products.

*This post is meant for general education and is not a medical advice
All the brands included are tried and tested by our community members through our pcos programs

Its always advised consulting with a healthcare provider to determine if taking an inositol supplement is appropriate for you and to discuss the appropriate dosage for your needs.

🍷Alcohol &

1.Alcohol can affect your quality of sleep, can increase cravings, negatively affect your metabolism
2.People with PCOS are more likely to have NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease),& alcohol can further worsen the symptoms
3. Studies show that moderate alcohol consumption may adversely impact the ratio of estrogen to progesterone [PMID: 11022013]
4. Moderate alcohol consumption is associated with reduced fertility [PMID: 34102671]
5. Drinking Alcohol While on metformin can cause side effects such as hypoglycemia
6. Beer has high amounts of gluten & carbs that can cause gut related issues ,promoting inflammation, which is one of the underlying causes of all PCOS symptoms [PMID: 32575561]
Many Popular cocktails such as cosmopolitan contains high amounts of sugar syrups can mess up with your insulin sensitivity!
7. Even after understanding the risks you want to drink anyway, A glass of “good quality“ Red wine can be one of the option for PCOS as Red wine contains resveratrol, a potent antioxidant some people also suggest taking reservatol as supplement . Some Pure liquors are another option to drink alcohol that’s more suitable for women with PCOS. Gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila, and rum are >98% alcohol and water mixtures. So long as you’re not mixing them with sugary syrups, then your hazard is limited to the alcohol content
8. There are plenty of fun alternatives to alcoholic drinks like kombucha by .in , non alcoholic beers available from brands non-alcoholic seltzers by India, or flavoured tonic waters by brands & , ginger ale by
9. Important steps you can take to reduce the side effects from alcohol - Ensure to eat something (preferably protein rich meals/snacks beforehand) this help reduce the glucose spikes from the alcohol. Stay well hydrated & Limit the number of drinks!
10.What you choose is totally up to you keeping in mind your health goals and priorities. Let not anyone force you to influence you to take a decision on your behalf, saying no to alcohol should be completely fine! You don’t have to feel embarrassed or ashamed of not drinking alcohol.

PCOS diagnosis criteria 👇

As per the latest international pcos guidelines 2018,

The diagnosis of PCOS is based on the presence of at least two of the following three criteria, as established by the Rotterdam criteria:
1. Irregular or absent menstrual cycles: have infrequent or absent periods, or may experience heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding. Periods that are less than 21 days or more than 35 days or if you have less than 8 periods in a year are considered irregular
2. Hyperandrogenism: This refers to elevated levels of male hormones (androgens) in the blood, which can cause symptoms such as acne, excessive hair growth (hirsutism), and male-pattern baldness.
3. Polycystic ovaries: Ultrasound imaging may reveal the presence of multiple small cysts on the ovaries, although this criterion is not essential for the diagnosis of PCOS. One or both ovaries may weigh more than 10 ml
In addition to these criteria, other potential causes of the symptoms should be ruled out, such as thyroid dysfunction, hyperprolactinemia, tumours and adrenal hyperplasia. A thorough medical history, physical examination, and laboratory tests is needed to make a definitive diagnosis of PCOS.

The ultrasound criteria isn’t applicable for adolescents who haven’t completed 8 years since menarche

Note that the below mentioned recommendations should be made along with any prescribed medical treatment , supplements & lifestyle changes for PCOS. Have you checked out my latest post on how to reduce hirstism with lifestyle changes?
1. Shaving is a quick and easy way to remove hair, but its not a permanent solution.A good quality razor & technique can minimize the risk of ingrown hairs. With PCOS, if you have very frequent hair growth it can be very exhausting to shave almost everyday.
2. Waxing involves pulling hair out from the root using hot or cold wax. It can last for several weeks but can be painful & may cause skin irritation, burns
3. Laser hair removal uses laser to target the hair follicle, which destroys it & prevents further hair growth. It is a long-term solution that can take several sessions to achieve the desired result, with PCOS one might need a bit more sessions.
4. Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal technique that involves inserting a tiny needle into the hair follicle and applying an electric current to destroy the hair root. It can be time-consuming and may require several sessions, but it is effective for removing unwanted hair permanently.
5. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) laser hair removal uses a broad spectrum of light to target the hair follicle, which destroys it and prevents further hair growth. when compared to laser , IPL is less precise and effective than laser. Additionally, laser hair removal tends to require fewer sessions to achieve the desired results compared to IPL, which may require more frequent treatments.
6. Epilator is an electrical device that removes hair by grasping multiple hairs at once and plucking them out from the root. It can be an effective hair removal method for women with PCOS who experience hirsutism.

Most of the above methods are not a permanent hair removal solution except electrolysis and laser treatment,& hair will eventually regrow. One might want to consider the budget, time, urgency , skin type / skin sensitivity and probable side effects before choosing a hair removal method.
What’s your to go method for hair removal, discuss in the comments!
