Adventures With My Enemy Melanoma Melanoma I'm Chelsea. I used to believe that everyone looks prettier with a tan. All of that changed in 2011 when I was diagnosed with Stage III Melanoma.

Now it is my goal to save another young soul from the craziness that now makes up the majority of my life. Remember, it's not just skin cancer.

Last night I got to meet Polka Dot Mama in person! Hugging Tracy was a highlight of my night.

If you don’t already follow Tracy, you must! She is doing incredible work in North Carolina. So proud to call her a friend.

Every time I speak publicly about my experience with melanoma, I keep my friends close to my heart. My melanoma friends. The ones who understand like no other. I share my story for my friends who no longer can share theirs. I hope they’d be proud. That’s all I want.

Tonight was incredible. A huge thank you to The Skin Cancer Foundation for allowing me to share my story again. ❤️

It’s a title that still makes me nervous to claim. A title that makes me feel like I’m testing the universe a little when I use it... survivor today, but what tomorrow? Melanoma is a sneaky beast, we all know.

But it’s times like today — times where I’m leaving my comfort zone to go tell my story out loud —when I get over my own insecurities and claim this title: Survivor.

As I stand on the stage tomorrow at The Plaza Hotel during The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Champions for Change gala, I will proudly represent all of us, my “molemates.” It will be those fellow melanoma friends—past and present—who encourage me to stand a little straighter, speak a little louder. To speak with hopes that my story will change the behaviors of others, to save lives.

For almost six years we’ve sent emails, texts, and often chatted about our amazing surgical oncologist at MSKCC. (Shout out to Dr. Charlotte Ariyan!) Tonight I had the pleasure of meeting my melanoma pal, Bob, and his sweet wife, Judy.

It is a really good day when you finally meet friends who feel like family. ❤️

How appropriate we met during Melanoma Awareness Month!

After hearing my scan results, and the melanoma team's recommendations of next steps, I asked my oncologist if he's breaking up with me. He laughed and said, "You can still call me. We can be friends."

Cured.
Discharged.
No. More. Scans.
Survivorship clinic in one year from now.

Words I never thought I would ever hear.

Thankful. So incredibly thankful for my family for their support, the staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering for caring for me, healing me, and curing me.

I will never take life for granted. It's beautiful. ❤️

This is INCREDIBLE. Finding a clinical trial can be scary and overwhelming. I fully believe this resource will help save many lives.

We're thrilled to announce the launch of Clinical Trial Navigator, a quick and easy way for patients to match to melanoma clinical trials. There are 300 trials currently enrolling - and they need 80,000 patients to take part. Finding the right clinical trial for you has never been easier.
