“Balati EMS is a community-based intervention designed to reduce avoidable Emergency Department utilization and improve prehospital care efficiency.
We deploy on-call EMS responders to homes, workplaces, and community settings to provide rapid assessment, treatment, and monitoring on-site. We are not 911, but function as a clinical buffer layer—initiating care early and remaining with the patient until 911 arrival when escalation is necessary, ensuring continuity and safe transfer.
From a system perspective, this addresses a well-documented gap:
Nationally, 30–50% of ED visits are considered non-emergent or avoidable
EMS treat-and-release rates remain underutilized, often defaulting to transport
Average ED visit costs can range from $1,200–$2,500+, excluding ambulance fees
Proposed municipal EMS rates are rising to $896 (treat & release) and $1,793 (transport)
Our model directly targets these inefficiencies.
📊 Projected Community Impact (Pilot-Based Estimates)
20–40% reduction in unnecessary ED tr
Faster time-to-care (on-scene response vs. ED wait times often exceeding 2–6 hours)
Lower per-incident cost: $500 flat-rate vs. $896–$1,793+ public EMS utilization
Improved patient satisfaction through in-place care and reduced system friction
Decreased EMS system load, allowing 911 resources to remain available for high-acuity emergencies
“In short, Balati EMS is a scalable, community-facing solution that improves access, reduces unnecessary utilization, and strengthens the efficiency of the broader emergency care system. We’re not replacing 911—we’re optimizing how and when it’s used.”
