A nutritious diet that is well balanced helps you make milk and stay energetic! Protein , whole grain , fruits , vegetables and don’t forget to stay hydrated! A common reason I see families is a decrease in milk supply due to supplementation. ( there is nothing wrong with supplementing if needed 😉) many times parents tell me they give extra to “ be safe “ because they just don’t know what their baby is getting, this can decrease your supply if you aren’t stimulating your breast enough within a 24 hour period.
Remember …milk works supply and demand! Here’s some tips to know your baby is getting enough milk: one of my favorite parts of routine consults is weighted feeds because when mom sees the number she feels like superwoman ( rightfully so 💪). Sometimes we need a little more help to get there and that’s okay too! Every drop counts !

* Baby is feeding regularly.
* Baby is swallowing during feeding
* Baby is content and happy
* Your breasts feel softer post feeds.
* Baby is gaining weight
* Baby has adequate diaper output daily
